Drivers seat moves by itself

I was showing the truck today to the guys at the oil change place today when the front seat moved by itself. I don"t have memory option. I had the front door open and the rear open also. King Cab. Then on its own the seat began to recline forward. This was the first time I have seen this. I used the power seat button to recline it back. About a minute later it did it again. I thought maby this was an option to assist in getting in and out of the rear seat. I can"t make it happen again. Didn"t see anything in the manual about it. Can someone help me out here? Thanks

I remember back when the 04' first came out there was some talk about this. I thought they had this problem taken care of. Do a search through the archives and see what you come up with. You should take i to the dealer. If this thing happens while you are driving it could cause you to have an accident.

sndmn2, you evidently have the power seats...(duh!)...

I am not familiar with your truck, so what packages do you have? I have an LE, and I do have the memory seats. With the LE I have memory seats (from the package) but I also have an seat entry/exit function (from which I am not sure if that's part of having an LE, but I suspect not).

My Ent/Ext function moves the driver's seat back a couple inches when I turn the key off and open the door. (& close the door &using the fob, lock the door). Additonally, if am outside and I use the fob to unlock the door, then open it & insert the key, it returns to exactly the same position that it was in before this whole description. (disclaimer.... providing that my legs or rear-end don't touch a switch during getting in or out of the truck)

by the way, for those who have memory seat, I do have 1 memory set, but I have not linked the memory to the fob since my last disconnected battery. So, when I do move the seat by the switches, then the E/E function returns it to the last "Switched" position, not to the memory position.

SndMn2, unfortunately, it sounds like you might have an issue that is not really related to the E/E function though.

EDIT: changed "legs or rear-end touch a power switch" to "legs or rear-end don't touch a switch"

The exit/entry only moves it back, his was forward.

The only thing I can think of is that sometimes if I am getting in or out or working on something around the driver's side I will lean on the switches and move it.

Other than that I have no idea.

Same problem here. The seat recline seems to move somehow but always forward. I find myself having to recline the seat back almost everytime I get in the truck. I have not been able to find what happens. I have sat on the switch a few times and have the seat recline. I do not have memory seats.

Mine seems to change on me without any input on occasion. However, I have found myself leaning over the seats and hitting the switch by accident.

Hey TallTexan,
I thought I was crazy because mine did the same thing for the first month I had it. Everytime I got in the truck, I had to recline the seat back.
I really think what happens is when I was getting in the truck, I'd hit the switch or the bottom seat cushion would. It never seems to do it while driving and now when I get in I sort of hop my but over that edge of the seat. Seems not as big of problem.
If someone finds a better reason, such as a bad switch or something, let me know.

I heard a rumor last winter (right after I ordered) that part of the Canton factory was built on an ancient burial ground.
Some of us are likely in serious trouble.
Certain service departments are going to need some very specialized training.

Noticed the same thing. If I am sitting on edge of seat reclines foward. I figured seat must be hitting switch. Have not had any problems when seated in middle of seat.

I thought I was just imagining this myself. I have an SE with the Popular package. The build date is 08/04. I'm 6 4 so I tend to recline back a bit to give me some more leg room but there are times when I get in and the seat seemed to have move forward again. It moves so much that I can definitely see the difference looking in the rear view mirror.

Whew!!! I thought I was losing my mind or something ....... driver's seat often seemed to be slightly different in the morning from how it was when parked the night before. Had to recline the seat back just a touch. It is reassuring to know that my truck is just possessed and I'm not losing my mind.

yes you are ... no I'm not ... yes you are ... no I'm not.

This has happened to me multiple times but everytime it happens I am getting in truck so I kind of wrote it off to somehow I am hitting switch with back side of my leg as I slide in. It has never done anything while driving, just when I get in truck.

I have been thinking about putting a switch somewhere near seat buttons to kill power.99% of time I am one who is using truck so it seemed like a good idea. If wife uses it, just toggle the power back on and make adjustments and toggle back off.

Havent done it yet though.
