what surface are you running on. 4WD is not for pavement but only for soft surfaces, also what speeds are we talking about?

i was driving on the streets, i put it in 4hi because its been raining on and off today and id lose traction in 2wd when pulling away from stoplights, even though 4hi is meant for soft surfaces like you say, i dont believe its supposed to feel realli rough in the steering wheel and pedal right? i can feel the whole truck vibrating with it engaged, in 2hi its pefectly smooth

I had the same thing today on a muddy dirt road and also on pavement but below 30mph. It's not bad but, it is noticable. Can't wait to loose the pizza cutters and get some real meet under it though!

cheers

I drove mine in 4Hi for about 30 miles in the rain today. Handled great, no vibrations. Seems really sluggish though.

This happened to me on my last truck. Turned out that the front drive shaft was out of balance. The pressure of the front tires also affected it. I just let it go and never worried about it.

Dilley, I know what you're talking about, however, I wouldn't describe it as a vibration. I'm not really sure what I'd call it but...yes, it's normal. My Frontier did the same exact thing. NO 4X4 feels the same in 2WD as it does in 4WD...not one. Some more than others but......it's normal.

I agree, if it feels like the truck is vibrating its most likely an out of balance frond drive shaft. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Your truck will always feel a little different in 4WD but it should not vibrate.

I took the advice from here to put in 4hi/4low once in a while to keep things working properly. Yesterday I put it in 4hi on wet pavement and it felt much more traction but every smooth, no vibration.

You can really feel it gripping the asphalt on 4Hi and often will "peel out" when turning. I don't think my Titan vibrates, but I can definitely feel the bumps a little more. Also, the factory exhaust roars a lot more on 4Hi.

"Peel Out" when turning? You should have written "screaming for mercy" because you are abusing me. That screeching rubber sound is the sound that the tires are making as they try to keep up with the tire that is turning the fastest (right front if turning left). If you are doing this on a surface that provides good traction, you are going to eventually break something.

Have fun!

everything you guys are hearing and feeling is completly normal, fact is you should not put this truck or any 4 wheel drive vehicle in 4wd on a hard surface, especially if you are going to be turning, it should only be put into 4wd on a soft or slick surface.
what you are hearing is one of the front tires trying to slip, since it is on a surface where it can not it is actually wearing the tire plus putting a strain on the front axle and all related components.
I occasionally put my truck in 4 wheel high just to keep everything lubed well but I make sure it is on a gravel road that is relativly streight and I keep my speed under 40 mph.
like imadogman said, Have fun. and i'll add, have fun "while you can".
