Lightbulb Map lights keep coming on over bumps

Here's another, "Do you have my random problem" thread.

Just yesterday, when going over train tracks my maplights blinked on. It is doing it everytime I hit a bump in the road with my headlights on. Map lights come on briefly then turn off.

This is annoying as all get out, and I'm hoping it will be easy for the dealer to track down the short.

Hopefully it isn't a short at all. It may be that the switches for the map lilghts are just a little too sensitive to bumps. When you are going over bumps, the light jumps up and down just enough to periodically close the little switches causing the lights to blink. It may seem that it only does it at night since at night is when it is dark enough to notice the lights flickering. Hope I'm right about this one.

Hm, I didn't think about this. However, last night my radio was off, and I heard a little
"click" as the lights went on. I haven't heard it since. I'll drive around some more and see if I notice it. Maybe the click was the sound of the switches making a connection. If this was the case, you'd think more people would have the same thing since the switch spacing would be fairly uniform across the line. Not that I'm wishing my Titan problems on anyone else!

Turns out I'm retarded. I think I had the same problem as xsive. When some coworkers rode with me at lunch, it didn't do it. I'm thinking one of the doors was slightly ajar.

I had that problem right after I got my Tundra - had some stuff loaded in the back of the cab and was up against the door. I had shut the door, assuming that it had shut fully - was driving down the street and I'd hit a bump and get the 'ding ding' that one would usually get when you are parked and left the keys in the ignition - mystified the hell out of me, until I was able to finally tracked it down to the door having not been shut fully.

see even us T-sips can be retards sometimes also LOL

my lights were coming on a little while ago and also the door ajar light came on also you might want to check the steel anchor that keeps your door closed. the two screws in mine were loose and i tightened them and haven't had a problem since. hope this helps!

I have encountered this when driving into a strong (45mph +) headwind. You can hear the relay click and all of the interior lights will come on. Experienced this from a crosswind the same day too. Asked the dealer's service mgr about it and he was clueless. Has anyone else run into this? Very strange, all of the doors were completely closed.

I've have a similar problem, when I take a fast, tight, right turn, the light turns on. My wife called me while driving the truck also and asked me if it had happened to me. Perhaps the weight of the door pulls away just enough to activate the light. I'll mention it to the dealer next time I'm in for service.
