What is this sound?

Has anyone noticed a sound when you turn off the ignition and remain sitting in your Titan? When I turn the ignition off I hear a sound that sounds like an electric motor. This sound occurs about five minutes after the engine has been cut off and seems to be coming from underneath the center of the dash. What is this?

I think its the motor that changes the vents from the top vents to the floor vents and defrost. I noticed the sound a few weeks ago on start up also after you tun it off wait about 2 or 3 miniutes.

I don't think this is normal.

are you guys sure it's not the electric fan running to cool the engine? They will start up on their own.

After shutting the truck off, I also hear this electric motor noise. it winds and then gets quieter to shutting off. It sounds like the VENTS closing or something. A motor in the climate control duct routing is my guess. I'm almost sure of it. At the tail end of the sound, it cinches shut and that's what gives it away.

The sound is inside the cab and is not a high RPM sound.

it is without a doubt the vents changing. it happens when you start the truck too. First i noticed it when i turned it off. with wear and tear that noise has become louder. then it started doing it when i started the truck.

It is the duct system. Mine does it as well. I think its shutting off the outside or fresh air opening. My Cherokee did this as well.

I was hoping it was an anti-chipmunk & mouse device going into action closing off a possible, albeit difficult, path to the interior. This time of year they seem to look for homes out of the elements. Those buggers got into my old Porsche via the vents. Not good. Had to always drive with the windows down after that.
Until last week, my wife kept a box of milk bones in the trunk of her car for our 2 dogs. This week during a Valvoline-quick-oil-change visit, the mechanic pulled about 12 uneaten bones from the air intake box! I know it wasn't the dogs.

I'm Tom Roper and I approved this message:

My opponent feels that you ought to live with chipmunks and mice. He gave tax breaks to milk bone owners making over $200,000.

My plan will protect ALL milk bone owners by inspecting every container, every ventilation duct. We will hire 100,000 new inspectors. We will close the gopher holes. We will reduce the cost of buying gopher bait for all Americans. And I will pay for it by eliminating the tax breaks given by my opponent to the wealthiest Americans making over $200,000 yr.

Are you sure it is not the CD player? Mine makes a noise when I have CDs in, but without CDs I don't get the noise. Even with the motor off. I am able to eject a CD until I hear that noise, then the CD is dead. Could just be a coincidence. I haven't really paid attention lately.

I am John Kerry and I approve this message...wait no I don't....well if you want me to...Yes...Yes...I am pretty sure I approve this message.

Thanks Tom, after voting this morning, I needed that!

I noticed the noise today as I sat waiting for an inspection sticker. I agree with the people that think it sounds like the motor for the vents.
