New to the Forum

Greetings, fellow Titan owners.

Just wanted to say that I've owned my truck for about 2 months now, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've been following a lot of the discussion on this forum and decided to register so that I could join in with my thoughts occasionally.

Rather than track down the specific threads, I'll offer a few observations here for now. One topic involved the tire pressure sensors in the OEM wheels. I installed a set of 17x8 alloys a couple of weeks ago, shodding them with 275/65-17 Nitto NT-404's. My tire pressure "alarm" has yet to go off (neither the chime nor the idiot light on the dash). I did not have the sensors mounted in the new wheels. I know that my sensor systems works, because I did get an indication of a low tire several weeks ago while still running the factory wheels. Anyway, for those of you who state that the indicator/chime is activating when changing wheels, I can't figure why yours does and mine do not.

I also read several comments on fan noise. Are you sure that the noise is from the aux fan? The main fan is clutched, and it will roar at times (especially when in warm weather and you've been idling like at a red light) until you reach a certain speed; then the clutch disengages and the fan will freewheel. Could be one explanation for the noise. My '03 S-10 ZQ8 with the 4.3 V-6 had the same type of clutched fan, and it roared like hell sometimes.

I also read today about a braking effect when letting off the gas. The poster thought it had something to do with a hill descent effect (or something close to that-I forget the exact term used). This is nothing more than the braking effect of the engine under deceleration. Those of you who've ever driven a manual trans know the feeling; accelerate in 2nd or 3rd gear and then back off the gas without shifting. The engine backs down. Automatics will do the same thing, and you'll feel it once in a while if the conditions are right.

Sorry to take up so much space on my first post. Just wanted to jump in with both feet. Any of you located in northern Utah?

I agree with all of the above other than the part of the braking assist. the truck does not use the brakes but will drop a gear when decending down hills.

Thanks for jumping on to the boards, I look forward to many discussions.

On your tire pressure sensors...did they put them in your new wheels? If not, you won't get the indicator until you travel around 30-40 miles. They wouldn't fit my 20's that I installed, and I don't get an indicator unless I hit the highway for a while.

Congrats, and welcome to the board!
