Just got back from a 3,000 mile hunting trip to Canada

For me, driving around hunting is the true test of any truck.

Here's what I noticed...

I Averaged 14.5 MPG for the entire trip(BTW, Canada pays about $2.85 per gallon). We started with a head wind of 25 mph, gusts at 35. Gas mileage was around 11.5 into the wind, fully loaded, no trailer. Thankfully this only lasted about 400 miles.

Once we were up there it snowed about 6 inches. The dirt roads were snow covered which required 4 HI. The truck was great in the snow and mud. It warmed through the week and slushy, sloppy roads were common. The VDC does not get you out of a slippery/stuck positions in 2 wheel drive. In 4 wheel drive with the VDC off, the SLIP light still comes on... It is hard to rage around and have fun. If you get even a bit "out of control" the SLIP light/control comes on and the brakes stop the slipping left/right action.

I noticed a noise in the dash on the passenger side. This was taken care of with paper jammed between the A-pillar and dash. The dealer will hear about this.

I have a Crew cab and there was also an issue with the lower half B-pillar plastic trim. The trim kept coming loose on both the driver and passenger sides. After it comes loose the trim can be pushed back into place but doesn't quit fit perfectly. However, it was catching on jackets when getting in the truck and came loose quit often. The dealer will hear about this.

The SES(sevice engine soon) light came on half way through the trip. The first thing I checked was the gas cap. In Saskatchewan it is common that the gas attendant fill the tank, they didn't tighten the cap all the way. It took a few trips for the light to turn off. WHEEEW...

Overall, A+++
I owned a Tahoe before this vehicle and this truck has much more room, power, and comfort. The BF tires were awesome. We had three guys in the truck and were able to fit all the gear in back and they both were able to sit in the back seats watching DVDs the whole trip, while I drove, bastards...

Yes, the truck is an absolute filthy mess on the outside. If I had a digital camera I'd show pictures.

Thanks for the report on the Titan, now how about a report on the monster bucks I hear Saskatchewan has. Did you see Milo Hanson up there?

The hunting was good. When the weather sucks the birds stay lower and are much easier to hunt.

There was seven of us in our group and we took about 200 snow geese, 10 dark geese, and about 100 ducks. If you think that is a lot the daily limits are 20 geese per person and 8 ducks per person. We were hunting snow geese flocks of about 500,000 and duck flocks of 150-200,000.

We did see some enormous bucks up there too but we were just waterfowl hunting. We were in the Quill lakes area.

Also, when I washed the truck today I noticed that right behind the outer compartment door, the paint has chipped. I'm guessing from rocks flying up. I do have mud flaps and this was kind of surprising. Anyone else have this happen? I wonder if this would be covered by warranty? The front mud flap came loose again too. Thankfully I have a good dealer to work with.
