What fluids are best to use?

I'm not a "car guy", and I for sure do not keep up with the "latest and greatest" stuff....

Just bought a Titan, and I plan on keeping it for a very long time. I figured I'd ask this question, even if the responses may be heavily laden with personal preference, and maybe there is no right answer.

So, what are the best fluids to use nowadays? (Oil/Transmission fluid/ etc)

Is it better to go with synthetic oil, if so what kind?

I've always used Pennzoil 10w/30 in my car in the past, but it's hard to know what to use.

Also, about weight: What weight should be used during what season of the year?

So, I'm just asking for a little "Car Fluids 101" lesson, I appreciate the help!!

Slider,
Read this: obsessed with fluid changing
Lots of good info on oil.
Mobile 1 75W-90 in the rear diff seems to be a favorite, works super for me.

Lightbulb

First read your owners manual to get the correct weights of oil weather engine , or rear end , etc then only you can make a selection of brands. The manual recommends
mineral oil (dino) not synthetic, however it dosen't say not to use them. Stay with the recommended visocity of oil if you had a major engine problem you could end up footing the bill if you don't.
Shell owns Pennzoil and Quaker State, Chevron owns Texaco, and Exxon owns Mobil and last but not least BP owns Castrol. Each of these have excellent products, good luck dude!

i think someone should make up a thread with that lists all the fluids guys recommend using from the oil to the diff oil, to trans fluid and such. It just seems hard to read 4 pages of threads just to find what is best.

example
Oil: Mobile 1 synthetic 0W-30
Amsoil XXXXXXXX

Diff oil Amsoil 75 XXX

and so on so guys can just read 1 thread and get ALL the info that seems scattered in about 5 or 6 threads.

Red face

The only qualified recommendations come from your Nissan engineers. You can argue brands all day and never get anywhere. Just pick a brand you can trust. And pick a good quality oil filter. Personally I use Havoline 5w30 and a Nissan oil filter.
