CC or KC

I have a graco in the back of my CC titan

the Latch points were hard to find for me, they actually are in the lower seat and you have to spread the fabric/leather to get to them, it took me forever to find them, i kept feeling behind the lower seat where the indicator shows, but finally found them.

Make sure you yank them really tight(stick your knee on the seat or base and yank up hard on the tightener.

for a rear facing--make sure to use the middle seat belt also. as there are no middle latches. attach the tether on each side to the closet latch on each seat, and then run the middle seat belt through. You have to use all three for a strong middle placement--very bad design by nissan in my opinion.

if you are placing your newborn on one side of the rear, I still recommend to use the the seat belt along with the the latch holds as they are in a weird location so rear facing seats dont latch down very securely

Usually your local police or state police officers would be more than happy to check it for you.

6th sense - congrats. It's not that hard once you get used to it, but I remember being just as nervous before my daughter was born. Most local police and fire departments will help you install or check your car seat for free. Look in to it.

Smoketitan - so you'd use both the seatbelt AND latch points for a middle position? I'm just using the seatbelt and it seems to work just fine.

For the newborn, since it will be a rear facing seat, install it in the middle. Use the seatbelt for fastening. If a top tether is on your carseat, i suggest using it to keep the seat from pivoting backward in a rear collission. What you do is remove the plastic cover which hides the steel that mounts the passenger seat to the floor. Loop the top tether around the seat post and the seat will not move an inch. If you have leather seating, I recommend a rubber car seat mat to protect the seat. Also do not use the locking seat belt mechanism either because the seat will start to lean to a side after you go over bumps because it will keep tightening.

One thing to keep in mind is when installing with seatbelt, you need get it in "locking mode". To do this Pull the seatbelt all the way out otherwise the carseat will not be "locked in". There's info in the manual about this.

Putting a rear facing infant seat in the center position is discouraged by the manufacturer and also explains why new cars do not come equipped with the lower L-A-T-C-H system in the center position. I can certainly understand your concern as I had the same issue several months ago. If you like, when I get home tonight, I can take some pictures of my installation and post some instructions to help. It really is very simple but if you aren't sure whether or not you are doing it correctly, it can be a bit unsettling. I have mine located behind the passenger seat so that I can turn my head and see her. You can also purchase a mirror that goes on the head rest in front of the seat (rear head rest) so that you can see your baby's face from your rear-view mirror. Let me know if you want me to put up some pics for you.

Britax!!!!! Pricey ($200) but VERY good . my wifes car has our 20 month old in our britax. the belts are a little stiffer and thus less prone to that twisting and crumpling wear after a few months. after a few months our graco (the one shown above) the straps are all twisted and its hard to keep them straight. our britax bought at the same time is still perfect. i would pay a little more and get another britax (althought out $75 graco is holding up very well besides the strap issue)

As far as I understand, putting a rear facing seat in the center is discouraged, like mentioned earlier in this thread. I just have my base in the latch points (good and tight), and it seems just fine. I have a Graco and little Kyle seems snug as a bug in there.

Couldn't resist posting this pic. I'm a proud papa!

My daughter is 20 lb but only 8 mos. She's too big to fit in her carrier/car seat, so I bought the Eddie Bauer convertible model (front or rear-facing).

The latch points on the CC are completely useless for rear-facing car seats. The seat is simply not held in tight enough. I used the center seat belt with the little locker clip that came with the seat.

I think I'll try using the inner latch points from either side. That might get the seat to fit a bit more snug.

I second the Britax. My wife researched forward facing seats from almost the time she learned she was pregnant. The Britax is the BOMB. We have 2, my inlaws have 2, and my bro-in-law and his wife have 2 for their munchkin.

Yes, it's a bit pricey, but, IMHO, you get what you pay for.

britax are the best, crash tested at 65mph not 55 like everyone else. very sturdy, worth the extra money in my opinion, we have four ( two kids one each car) and yes I used the latch and seat belt when my newborn was first born.

kinda weird I have never heard that the middle seat was in correct, It seems it would offer the child the most impact resistance--but hey maybe thinks are new I folllowed my moms advice
