Nissan bought my 04 back now what to do?

I had/have a 4x2 LE Galaxy with 23k miles. Due to 4 attempts to repair the brake issue Nissan agreed to buy it back today in lieu of a Lemon Law claim. Now comes my delima.

I am trying to decide what to do. I do know I am tired of washing a Black Truck so Smoke, Code Red and Red Brawn are high on my list. Of course the colr has to work with my wheels. I know I want an 05. My question is 4x4 or 4x2. I only have a few times a year I would like to have it but my only question is...

Is there any reasons one would NOT want a 4x4? Is the milage worse? Is the ride the same?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but its better to ask.

FYI: Nissan offered $23500 and $1500.00 below invoice on any 05.

Man I wish I had your problem! I'd take the Code Red 4x4 LE CC with Nav and sunroof.

I honestly wouldn't get a 4x4 unless where I lived or what type of work I did dictated it. I had a 2000 Frontier CC and I maybe used the 4x4 system 8 times. Twice when I drove to Michigan in the winter and the rest ot the time going hunting/camping or just goofing off. The mileage will vary as well. I'm not sure how much extra weight is added with the 4x4 system, but I'm sure it has an affect. I know it will for sure if you use four wheel drive. Just my .02 cents worth.

I have owned nothing but a 4x4 since 1990 and wouldn't drive anything but a 4x4. I don't need it very often but when you do need it, it sure is nice to have it there instead of a tow truck. Besides you will get your money back when you trade it in down the road a few years.

How in the world did they not fix your brake problem in 4 attempts?

sigh, sometimes lemon laws are abusive IMO

you lost 10k in this deal.... you probably paid 29 Invoice and 5 in taxes/registration.

I don't think you get full price back...they depreciate the price based on the number of miles on the truck(not sure if that ends up being good or bad for you though). I think they do reimburse the taxes, tags, title also. Do you have a straight answer for us earthdog?? By the way I LOVE those wheels.

Weight and gear ratio will be the biggest factors on gas mileage, (while in 2 wheel drive).

Even the LE KC 2x4 is around 250 lbs. heavier than the XE KC 2x4 . With a CC add another ~55lbs. 4x4 another ~200-250 lbs. Big Tow and Off-Road? Just a guess, but maybe 200 lbs. more?

One thing to note, as well, is the '05 gear ratio for the stock LE 4x4 (w/o Big Tow and w/o Off-Road) has the same lower 3.357:1 gear ratio, as with those packages, and should equate to less MPG.

In the thread at the link below, I comment on the weight differences on the different '04 Titans, and this can give you an idea on which version might have the worst gas mileage.

Why does a 4wd use more fuel than a 2wd? Post #4

BTW, I'm getting ~14.5 MPG, hwy. (not freeway), and twisty country road. Speed range from 65-50, respectively, but mostly 60.

See pkg. info. below. A LE would be 210 lbs. more with the same options, (difference being LE's step bars, leather, etc. ?).

As far as the "ride" I haven't driven a 2x4, but my 4x4 rides very nice, and I'm used to driving Camrys for many years.

You can't get an 05 for $1500.00 UNDER INVOICE! And I feel good about the price I tested the trade in value at 2 different stealers in Atlanta. A 4x2 LE with 23k miles in great shape without the wheels got me offered from $20,500 to $22,000 Car Max offered me $22,600. So the offer sounds good to me. The terrible truth is the Nissan's trade vaule is a little low.

Your weather in Atlanta is pretty much the same weather as here - unless your a bigtime outdoorsman, I'd stay with 4X2. My recommendation for color is Silver. It hides a dirty paint job pretty well until the next wash. If your having trouble with the wheels, I guess I can take them off your hands next time I'm in the area

Radiant silver will not show dirt as much as the colors you mentioned. You can see for yourself if you go to a dealership and look at the Titans on the lot. Many people think that road grime is dark color-wrong. The lighter the color of your truck, the less dirt will show up.

Go find a mud hole, lay down in the mud hole and install chains on your 2WD. That should help you decide between 4x2 and 4x4.
