Long time reader first time poster...

Not really but now I feel I can post as I picked up my Titan last night. Stopped in to try and make a descision between the bench and the captains chairs in my mind and ended up getting an 04 that they REALLY wanted off the lot!

Anywho: I've read a lot of the stereo posts. Titantalk actually talked me out of the Fosgate option. But now I need some tunes. I'll be honest a lot of the stereo posts are over my head (loc?) so I'll just break the rules of every BBS and just tell ya what I want and see what y'all think about how to get there.

I'd like to keep the stock head unit (I'm not completely against upgrading... I'm REALLY gonna miss my MP3 CD player), upgrade the speakers, add a single amp (or maybe two if the sub will need one) and a sub that stays as hidden as possible. I'd like everything to be as completely unobtrusive as possible and not take away any functionality. Can you buy the fake Fosgate sub for under the seats? Or at least the enclosure? Anyone have a pic of it? Do they sell a "blank" dash panel for upgrading to a DIN size head unit (THAT'S what HU stands for!!!!).

Other than that I just plan to mount my GPS into the tray thingy on the dash, maybe split the AUX input to inside the console so my MP3 isn't flopping around and that's about it.

Hey Craig,

Yes they do sell a regular DIN sized bezel for the HU. Its actually the bezel for the XE model and you can pick them up fairly cheaply. If you do a search on XE bezel you should be able to find the part number and price. I will leave the rest to the audio afficionado's to anwer.

BTW, congrats on the Titan purchase.

Nick

Thanks for the answer Nick but I'll wait for someone that actually rides a "grown up"'s bike to answer.

Just kidding. I've noticed a lot of racers with Titans! Even two-smoke guys.
You WERA? I'm BBC Racing. Last year my guy took 2nd in LWT nationally and 1st in all the regionals. This year I gave him a GSX-R 750 that he sucked on and I also had an 03 SV endurance team until we blew 3 motors (Suzuk changed the connecting rods on the new model). I also work for a couple of AMA SBK guys.

Awesome that's just what I wanted! Now I wish I'd pulled my HU out of my old truck!

Yes, yes and agreed.
However, Even though I can't say anything bad about the whole experience including the salespeople, I never feel "clean" after the whole buying process.

When we were driving off I felt like someone had hit me repeatedly in the back of the head with a baseball bat coated in pissed off kitty cats.

I've owned 2 other Nissans prior to my Titan. I used Town Center for service work on both of them and drove away pleased everytime. I ended up getting my Titan from another dealer, but I'll probably take it back to Town Center for service.

No racing this year... not since turn 2 at Roebling in 2000 (WERA Ex #250) as a matter of fact . But I am on GSB & GATwisties.... mostly do trackdays, and cornerwork now.

Used to race and '87GSX-R 750 back in the late '80s very early '90s though.... then I grew up to ride a 2 stroke.

when I want to take a step back I ride the Mille....

Ouch, that hurts....I look forward to see how their service department is and how they handle warranty work.
I expect no issues or problems.

When (and / or if) a stereo guru type hits this thread: Is the controls on the steering column a stereo standar? Plllleeeaaase say they are. I'm not gonna put a different HU in and have these little do-nothings left over.

If I do swap the HU any XE type person wanna swap bezels and stereos?

you will have to add something like an Infra-Red controller to maintain your steering wheel controls... sorry, i know that is not what you wanted to hear.

Search on PAC controller and see what you find... should be some useful info.

Try this thread... Steering wheel controls w/ after market stereo
