caught her in the act!!!!

just happened about an hour ago. I go to the bank and run inside to hit the atm. come out and I see the door of the minivan parked next to me resting on my passanger door. This lady is fumbling around inside her car. i knew it right away. she hit the titan. i walk over and see the deep scratch. "Lady you hit my truck". oh im sorry, she said. (total white trash by the way). OK but im going to need your information. She starts arguing with me. Saying she is not going to give me her information for something so small. Its not the worst thing you have ever seen, but the fact is i caught her damaging my truck. i told her i dont care how bad the damage is, its brand new and i work hard to own it. she starts walking away from me. i told her fine im calling the cops. she tells me fine. i grab her liscense plate number and then she walks back and says the police are coming.

i wait about 1/2 hr. and the officer shows up. told him all i wanted was her information but she refused to give it to me. She starts going on a rampage about how minor the damage is. It was great, the cop starts telling her he would be pissed off too if someone hit his brand new truck now matter how minor it is. It was obvious that she was at fault. She starts yelling at the cop and then the cop blows up. i thought he was going to throw her on the hood and cuff her.

He was a nice guy and on my side. told me it sucks because it is a non moving violation. it is classified as vandalism. i would have to file in small claims to see any money. that sucks cause going through insurance would be easier. i would have to prove in court that the WT lady did it, which would be hard to do.

If she had given me her info i probably wouldnt have even done anything. the fact that she was being such a bi#ch i wanted the cops to come. what if i was leasing this thing? i would HAVE to get it fixed. I really cant stand people who have no consideration for other peoples cars. i dont car if your car is a piece of sh!t cause you dont take care of it, but dont ruin mine. I think it is about $50 in damage, maybe a little more. will stop by some place to find out exactly. Look out for the lady in the POS green Windstar.

I'll be willing to bet this woman has no insurance. Let us know the outcome of this.

The sucks that you have a dent now, but at least you caught her. I think Bayou is right, sounds like she has no insurance. Good luck getting it fixed. I have a nasty door ding on my Titan too, and it gets my blood boiling everytime I see it. Stick it to her for being so inconsiderate.

I lived in philly for 7 years...this is par for the course there. Every day the drive home turned into a fight. Glad the cop was on your side.

LOL, that is a wild story my man. Good luck on the easy repair, depending on how deep it is you can probably do it your self.

I carry an old digi cam in my truck for just such occasions. If the person that is in the wrong starts acting like a jerk I start taking pictures of them, their car, license plate, damage to my vehicle, etc. If they don't like this I politely remind them that they were the cause of the problem and they are on public property.

That is some good advice Bayou. I have some neighbors who are like the WT mentioned above. He put a similar scratch on the bumper of the car I traded in for the Titan. He said he would pay for it, but when he and his ho saw the estimate they said "it's our word versus your, were not going to pay!" Bunch of irresponsible A-holes I have since installed a security webcam that records 24/7. Next time I'll have proof. I hope you get her RememberThisTitan, but A-holes like her are probably used to being sued so it probably won't affect her much if you do! Good luck, keep us posted.

it never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate and irresponsible some people are when it comes to respecting other peoples property. hey, accidents happen, but if you cause one, be adult enough to buck up and take responsiblility.
do you have mandatory insurance laws where you live? did you get any insurance or other info from this biatch? if you did, i would call and find out if she even has insurance. doubt it!
i've already got a few small spots where paint from the other vehicle has rubbed off on my body side mouldings. i never park anywhere close to anything w/ my TITAN. EVER!

i have a report number. he called in her drivers liscense info and i wrote down her liscense plate number. i will get an estimate. if it is high, i will persue it. i will also call my insurance company and ask them if it can be clamed through her insurance. i dont have her info, but with the info that i have and what was called in, im sure my insurance can track her down. she wouldnt show hers, and the cop didnt make her because it was valdalism. will keep you guess posted.

Well ya know, best thing you can do is contact your insurance, as they will probably follow up and 'attempt' to recoop your deductible AND the money they spent to fix the ding. I hit a guy a few years ago (totally his fault pulling out into traffic from a private drive) and found out AFTER I got home when I attempted to file a claim against his insurance, that insurance was in his wifes name and there was a waiver on the policy that insurance didn't cover if he was driving (got around the no insurance by providing a valid insurance card for the car). I ended up being out $250 deductible and the insurance being out $4000+. They attempted to recover their loss, and mine, for about 6 months, but he was ignoring their attempts, so they just wrote off their loss and closed the claim. The funny thing about this was that even though the police cited him for failure to yield R.O.W from a private drive, he still attempted to file a claim against my insurance (adjuster and myself got a big kick outta this). It's worth a shot and you'll get your truck fixed, even if it never goes back against her. It's what you pay insurance for.

On a side note, had a guy park next to me when I still had my Tundra...I had backed it in and this guy drives up a few minutes later, in a beater of an old Saturn TC. Backs it in (why do people in beaters back in I'll never know) and while I'm still putting my things together to go into work, I hear a thud on the right side of my truck. Turns out he let the door open and it ended up getting caught by the wind and boom hits my passenger door molding. I roll down the window and tell him that he just hit my truck. Get out and go around and look at what happened. Turns out even though he let his door hit the truck, the molding on Toyota's are pretty awesome. No damage whatsoever. Anyway, I told him that he should really watch it when he opens doors, etc. He was a ****y little punk who thought it was no big deal (yeah no big deal cause he drives a beater). Oh well, now i tend to park next to nice cars or far enough out that I'm by myself.

You can have your insurance company go after her. This is one reason Cell phones with pics are good.

its really hard to understand why people are like this. about 3 years ago i went to the grocery store, was in a big hurry and slung my door open and hit this guys car, i felt like a total dumb ***. so i waited around for about an hour no one showed up. so i wrote the guy a note telling him my info and what i done. that night he called me he said something like very few people would go through the trouble to be a honest these days. he wouldnt take any money for it. i even went out to see him and try to pay for it. he told me that being honest was good enough for him.
we became pretty good friends.

Sorry man. It sucks when people disrespect your stuff. Anyway I went to this place called DENT MAGIC. They specialize in PDR repair. They fixed a nickle size ding I had in my drivers door. They did a great job. Saw me right away and was out the door in 25 minutes. Ding is totally gone. No trace what so ever.
