Is Mobil1 0w-40 ok with warranty????

In reading the owner's manual it is not clear if using this weight of oil is outside of warranty guidlines. Anyone care to comment?

Hi,
I have 1,300 miles on my 04 Se KC 4 x 4 with big tow........and am about to make the first oil and filter change......I'm gonna ask my dealer first if the synthetic is ok.before I make any changes..anyone confirm this with their dealers ???If you change the oil every 3,000 miles can't you use the regular heavy duty 10-40 engine oil with comparable results to synthetic oil????

Need to read your manual closer it tells exactly what weight oils are recommended.

Becareful, there was a knock down drag out a few weeks back about what the owner's manual said about the recommended gasoline. There are different versions of the owner's manuals out there and there are more than just cosmetic/grammar differences between them (at least in the fuel section).

yes, i'd check the owner's manual with your titan, not an online version.

why would you want to use 0w40 when there are sythetic 5w30's that actually meet the truck specs? just curious. i don't think sythetics void the warranty either, as long as they have the API starburst symbol marking them as meeting quality standards.

I thought I was using Mobil 1 5W-30 too. I buy the oil in 5 quart jugs from WalMart (seems to be the cheapest way), but when I looked at my used jugs used to store the old oil, I realized I had been buying 10W-30 oil. Will try 5W-30 next go-around to see if it makes in difference in gas mileage.

How the heck is the dealership gonna know what weight oil is in the truck, unless you tell them???

By the way, M1 0w40 is great oil!!

If your engine had internal damage and Nissan inspected for problems they would sure do oil analysis. End result oil not recommended, you foot the bill. Chances of it happening probably not. Your call. Their are references to this type thing in the oil recommendations section of your manual.
