Please post opinions on your offroad/ all terrain tires

I am looking to upgrade wheels and tires on my 4WD XE. I would like you to post your opinions on the offroad tires you have bought. How are they wearing? How do they perform on the road in wet conditions? How do they perform in the mud? Would you buy them again?

So far, I am looking at:
both styles of Nittos
both styles of BFGs
Dunlop Mud Rovers (weren't a first choice until I read some really good reviews)
Cooper (don't remember what name but the mud tire)
Yokohama Geolander Mud Tire

I will be putting them on black steels.

Thanks for your posts.

P.S.- I know this would get answered more on the General Discussion, that is why I posted it here.

I like the BFG AT. Had them on my jeep . Lots of road miles with very little wear. Very good off road tire.

I too am a BFG A/T guy, had almost 50k miles on my 98' 2wd Ranger with them before my trade in for the Titan, and still had about 40% tread left! When I start looking for off-road tires for this Titan, the BFG's will be the only tire for me.
Yes very good street traction for a off- road tire, good wet traction also. I have a 2wd, its a great tire for a 2wd.

I spend a good amount of time hunting in the fall and fishing in the winter. I've used three major after market tires.

BFG A/T - great all around tire for the road. They do not do well in heavy mud or snow. The lug is just not spread out enough. Not so good on ice either. They do wear well though.

BFG M/T - not an all around good tire. Great in the heavy mud and snow. Even worse on ice than the A/T, road and lake. They do need to be balanced and rotated a bit more. They have a cut out on every other lug but still are a bit loud.

Bridgestone M/T - not an all around good tire. Awesome in the heavy mud and snow. Horrid on ice, road and lake (they are a very stiff tire). Again, they require a balance and rotation more often. They have a cut out on every lug but are still pretty loud.

I currently have the stock BFG Rugged trail T/A as part of the OF package. Great on the road, ice, rain, etc. Not so good in the heavy mud. I haven't had the truck long enough to try it in the real heavy snow but I'm guessing they will be similar to the BFG A/T.

Just my .02

unlike the other guys here, i had some really bad experiences with the bfg at. 2 of them were out of round. they do pretty good in the mud and snow when i had them.

i want to stress this, do not get the geolander, awesome tread design but they are by far the worst tire i have ever had, thought it was just a bad set so i ordered a set of yokohama geolander h/t-s and they were the same. awful tread wear, took a unusual amount of weight to balance them.

The best set of tires i have had are those cooper discoverer LT. had 45000 miles on them without a problem. i am sold on the coopers, takes very little weight to balance them and are alot cheaper that the bfg's. i will buy cooper from now on.

Just got some Toyo's AT. Supposed to be good on snow and ice, good sippes (sp?) I need deep snow and road and ice/wet. The lugs, pattern, spacing and the sippes looked very good. $700+ 17". Also there were only a few that matched my tire size exactly.

Titan Off Road pkg 4x4

It was difficult. I was afraid to change my diameter very much due to the ADC etc.

My CC 4x4 sports Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrain 305/50R-20 wrapped around 20x9 chrome rims. Same ride but much improved lateral handling. www.usantonio.com/busrtsphoto2A.htm

Looks like you've done some good research. I've had nothing but great experiences with the BFG AT's. They're great on dry, wet, and dirt conditions. The MT's however are a great tire but need to stay on your off-raod rig. They wear too fast on pavement and are very loud. they kick ars on rocks and mud tho!

i just bought some toyo open country a/t a week ago, 325/70/17. i wanted to try something other than bfg or pro comp. looks great, and drives smooth and quiet too. so far no rain and usually never much at all. no problems with street or highway driving, very stable.

I'm liking my Nittos so far. They do sing a little. Not been off-road yet.
