I'll bet the look changes alot... It looks very concept. And being so high would cause Insurance company's fits! Plus the bed looks rather small, and the lift height would be hugh! Plus Toyota would get lots of lawsuits as small cars get ran over in fender benders from the high bumpers.
Right...metal stainless seat supports. Way to much money. My guess is it's delayed becuase if they took real truck users (like Nissan did for the Titan), I'm sure the items I listed and many more were pointed out.
And they only beat the HP by 20? Remember by time it comes out the Titan will be 3-4 years old! I'm sure Nissan isn't just sitting back in an easy chair.
If you want a look's truck, then thats fine, but Toy knows to make money they need farmers, ranchers, etc to buy it as well. So it has to be usable.

I had always heard Great things about Toyota so I bought my wife a 4Runner in 00.
IT went back to the dealership more than any vehicle I have ever owned. Toyota gave me no help what so ever.
I ended up pulling an "Admorris".
One huge advantage (for me anyway) that the Tundra crew cab has over the Titan is a significantly longer bed length. That and the quality of construction...
two things i like about the Tundra is the rear seat is angled back like a car, not vertical like most trucks...also the full sized rear power window is a nice option.
i'm glad nissan added a power rear window for the 05, wish i had it on my titan.

[quote=keiffers]You sound alot like me. When I got my 2002 Tundra, I thought I would have it for quite awhile.
Likewise - styling was nice and distinctive enough to please wife, it was quiet, comfy, gave 16-17 with aggressive style in mountains and hills, gave good visibility and performance offroad, had the shift out of the way on the column with a simple button that disengaged an overdrive you could actually feel making engine braking, had the best engine compartment layout I've ever seen, handled better than many so-called sport cars on crappy roads, and had sufficient power to not feel in the way on the road. Niggles about no warning if you left it with headlights on, limited interior storage, a terrible back-angle on rear seats, and a bug and rock-catching angle to the windshield were wouldn't have driven me to Titan, but TRD shocks whose rebound were sacked within 15k despite a within spec tonque weight for 6000 miles of tow, and a wife stranded alone and terrified in the mohave when the tranny failed completely at 45k made the Titan look great - even better wihen we learned the deluxe extended warranty still meant driving around with a hole in the dash for over a month while our stereo with 6 CDs went to a distant location instead of quick replacement at the dealer, and finally the Titan became irresistable when that stereo came back with our hard-to-find and expensive when you do favorite CDs stolen by that factory.
We're going to ride it out with this Titan for awhile, and this time we're going to formulate and ask many more questions before the next rig we get.

The Extended cab Tundras have a very vertical back seat. The double cab is just as roomy as a titan crew cab. Ive sat in both on the same day at a car show. Both trucks are nice. The VVT added to the Tundra does make a lot more hp. It also gets a 5 speed tranny this year. Of course 4.7L will never get the power of 5.6L. And if VVT gets added to the Endurance, that will be something amazing. Tundra does have rear drum brakes but has (had?) the shortest stopping distance of the half ton trucks. I dont know if the Titan is better than the tundra in stopping power, but the Tundra still beats the domestics. And there are no steering shimmies I know of, I think thats the Fords. Tundras did have some problems with front brakes warping in 2000-2001, but they are fixed now. They are solid trucks and ride well, but obviously arent built up like a Titan.
I too hope Toyota wont make the new Tundra too odd looking.

That would presumably include those "state of the art" brake drums and steering shimmies Tundra is famous for.
Those rear drum brakes are cheaper to build, cheaper to maintain and the Tundra stops as well or better than any comparable truck. Other than lacking in marketing hype, I don't see the brakes as a weak point.
If you like drums so well, you should ask for them on the Sequoia and see what response you get. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that one.
No offense but your statement doesnt make much sense. Why would you ask for drums and who would you ask? Of course disks are better but if drums are getting the job done better than other manufacturers, why complain?
But anyways I think the sequoia does have rear drums--and discs. I think the drum is just for the parking brake so it never has to be changed since it wont see much wear. And the discs are just as easy to change on the back as the front since you dont have to deal with the parking brake in the way. Im pretty sure this is the case but I dont have a sequoia so I dont know or care that much.
Anyways Im glad the Titan has rear discs b/c it sets the bar for other manufacturers. A lot of Titan features set the bar. And that is good.

As I mentioned back in April, Toyota is preparing the new Tundra to be a world-beater.
The 2 things that have happened since then are:
1. Gas prices skyrocketed, and 2. Profits shrank for Jap. car makers.
Toyota has since delayed the introduction to mid-late 2006 due to the rapid change in world economics and oil prices. Rest assured though that they are out to top EVERY manufacturer of FULL SIZE trucks.
This thread would give you an idea of the Tundra concept(now slated to come out as a 2007 model):

It's not often that you hear something like that from a Toyota owner...
