Test Drive With The 05 Le Cc

I had a chance to take an 05 out for a long test drive, I did notice that they had made some changes from the 04's.

1. The new RF FM radio sounded great! It was very clear and loud with good warm sound. It was locked into the stations and it never faded out! It is what they should have given us from the start in the 04's.

2. The dash is very tight, I tapped all over the dash and not one sound! It is a big change from my truck even with all the sound deadening material that the dealer installed, I could not get one part to sound loose. On the long test drive the truck had not one rattle or noise any place. Big change for me.

3. The windows worked great every time I used them, no locking up and going back down. They must have fixed the software program in the BCM.

4. I did not hear any HISSING at all coming from the AC prug valve. It was very quiet inside of the cab. I was glade that they change that on the 05's.

5. The new tailgate is nice, It uses springs to make the tailgate open slowly.

6.The motor seemed quieter, I did not hear the EGR prug valve rattle at all. Also the engine seemed to have a smoother throttle responce, not as jerky or snappy as before. very smooth.

7. The new back window works nice, it gose up and down fast and smooth.

8. I can not tell you if the brakes are any better on this truck, I would have to drive it alot more to have an opinion on this.

I thought that I would share a few of my observations with the new 05 LE

Deep.

STOP!!!!!!! Your making me want one.
Well did ya take it home? Are ya gonna buy it? Don't keep us in suspense.
Whatever you do, good luck, and drive the crap out of it before you do buy it to make sure everything is ok.

Good! I need the '05, '06, '07 to establish Titan's quality reputation before I trade mine in 3 yrs. By then hopefully, people will want them so bad they forget about the problem plagued '04s.

Actually, I like my '04 very much. I did get rid of the rattle driving me crazy by putting foam under the dash. Even the brake judder I thought was coming on, doesn't seem to be. It's a joy to drive that I always look forward to. One or two things can change one's perception though. Quality is a moving target.

DeepH20: Please explain what is different about the interior. Is it any more "refined", as in alumininum accents and that sorta stuff. I would be yer best buddy if you could post some pics of the interior!!! Thanks in advance.

BTW- My dealer is telling me that they cannot get 05's until February and I cannot seem to find interior pics of a 2005 LE any damn where.

05's are first going to the high volume dealers then to everyone else

I agree with TNbowhunter - stop until we all want to trade in our 04's for an 05. LOL I have to take my 04 in for its first oil change and recall service on Monday - hopefully I'll be able to walk on the lot without getting near an 05 LOL in and out quickly or else I'll have one

It's not just the 05s. . The LATE 04s have the same fixes to them as well as the 05. I drove a 05 and a 04. My late 09/04 BUILD date has all the fixes in place it seems already.

if you purchased the early 2004 models, the fixes won't be in place by then. You would have to complain and issue a complaint to the service department about your issues.

The new 05's are perfectly identical except the aluminum accents in the dash. IMO, we can purchase those dash kits for well under 200

The tailgate will be the next mod I'll be considering soon. I'll be talking to the parts guy trying to find out what kind of parts we would be needing to retrofit the new tailgate.

I'm seriously regretting getting the rockford fosgate package... I should've gotten another system...

My late Aug. 04 is TROUBLE FREE!!!!! I Love this truck!!! I dont know if its Me, or just some of the people on this site, but (and I know I will take a LOT of FLACK on this) There seems to be a lot of CRY_BABIES!!!!! Here, compared to other forums that I belong to. Not many of the members here seem to be able to : find and fix a rattle or squeek, do even the smallest thing to help themselves, The mentality seems to be, that I have spent all this money on this truck, so let the DEALER fix it. Then they log on here and ***** about it. Just not the way I do things. So, now that I pissed most everyone off, All I have to say is HAVE A NICE WEEK-END!!!!!

I also have a '04 Titan built in 09/04 and I have not had a single trouble with the exception of a clunk when downshifting to 2nd at around 22 MPH (I can easily control this by watching my speed before downshifting). To me it is a minor issue...at this time. I only have 1500 miles on truck so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some of the troubles reported on this board do not show up. I would find it hard to believe that Nissan would not have implemented simple quality control initiatives to fix many of the troubles I have read on this board. By doing this Nissan would actually save money and does not have to go into their pockets to pay dealers for warranty repairs. As for issues that may cost substantial money or redesign, those may have to wait until the next model year. Squeeks and rattles are easier and cheaper to fix at the factory before the truck gets sold, plus I'm sure dealers and owners create a lot of pressure to make this happen. By reading this board and people's issues along with the build dates on their trucks, I suspect that Nissan had put some quality control initiatives in place sometime after May (this is just a WAG, no hard data to back it up). They should have been doing it from day one when they began selling the Titan.

All I want off the 05s is the tailgate assist. I'm a woman, not all that big, and that tailgate is a PITA. I've taken to just opening and letting it drop, better than bending my wrist to let it down slow. Closing it is another matter, ugh.

Ah well, even with its quirks and issues I still love my Titan. Going to miss it next week while it spends some quality time with the Nissan Master Tech. As long as it comes back fixed I'm happy.

I sat in my first 05' today, it was a CC SE. Besides what deepwater said, I also noticed the head rests were bigger and tilted forward more..really nice! Also, the homelink controls, outdoor temperature readings were moved to the overhead console. The doors seemed to shut a lot easier to and sounded/felt better when I opened and closed all four doors compared to the 04'. Did they redesign the bug deflector for 05? Looks different/better then the ones that came with the 04.
