I was looking at the Dodge diesel 2500, but the Cummins added 6k to the price. If the Dodge were closer in price to the Titan, I would have gotten a Dodge.

That truck stickered close to $33000. I believe Nissan does the same thing at the end of the year with rebates and incentives. If you llok at the real numbers published and surveys taken I don;t think Titan is really taking a significant part of the truck market awya from Detroit - especially when you you spread the sales across the Big 3, and factor in that a great number of the sales are previous Nissan owners replacing another Nissan. Even TitanTalks own poll shows that 60% of the Titan owners surveyed here previously drove a Nissan. The difficulty with the Titan is the inability to really order it the way you want it. Die hard truck enthusiast like to choose engines, rear ends, gears, tow packages, options, options, options. I know when I traded in my Titan I had the choice of probably 10-12 different Ram Hemi configurations. IMHO I think Titan is priced a little cheaper because it's produced a little cheaper. Great engine - but lacking in some other areas. I'm glad we all have choices too. - that way everyone can be happy.
Gearman1987, I think you failed to realize that Detroit doesn't produce those trucks. Mexico, St. Louis, & Ontario, Canada for most all of the manufacturers and I think Texas is where Toyota builds their's. Oh and since the Titan is only in its second year of manufacturing do you think GMC, Ford, & Dodge were able to offer all of their many configurations in the second year of those vehicles? The 'Big 3' probably needed to make sure that their trucks would sell and they had a market established through which they could make available more choices and options to grow that market and satisfy the many different tastes within their market share. I mean, that makes sense, doesn't it? I wouldn't say cheaper BTW, Nissan and most Asian Auto-makers have always been better at controlling costs and using Just-In-Time Inventories as well as developing the quality control systems like ISO 9000 that the 'Big 3' had to learn from the Asian auto companies. It provides better standards and a pride in craftsmenship that all Auto-makers can benefit from.

Did you know the dealers also have incentives from the factory for how many vehicles they sell and can even sell the vehicles below invoice and still make money on them b/c the factory pays them per vehicle sold? It's called a holdback amount...that they eat if they don't sell the vehicle by year end.

I hope you do enjoy your Ford. It is a nice truck. I prefer the Titan, but to each their own...

Not only that....I dont feel like filling up my gas tank every other day from "racing:. I got this because I need to pull a trailer loaded with ATV's and not because it was fast. I just like Nissan so it was the logical choice when I wanted to upgrade to a truck from an Altima.

Sliding rear window
Off-Road Group

MSRP: $35,365
Invoice: $31,227

Suppliers discount: $312.27
My cost: $30914.73
My cost after $1500 rebate: $29414.73

My Titan cost $26,300 includes everything on RAM Plus more standard Towing of 6500# vs 4100#, Bed Extender, 6 CD Premium stereo, Limited Slip on Front axle also, and 5.6L engine.

To add Hemi to RAM would had cost me: $30,281.97

Still less features and then payload is reduced to ~1200#s because Hemi was 150 lbs more than 4.7L.

Hemi dodge would had cost me $30,281.97 back in September when I was buying. Titan cost me $26,300 for more truck. That's $3982 more dollars. Oh Yeh, If I wanted the exact same in a '04, the rebate was a whopping whole "$500" more. So I could had bought an '04 Hemi Ram for $3482 more than my Titan. Granted now, rebates are much better and the '05 could be had for $29,032 with $2750 in rebates. However that's still $2732 more than my Titan.

So I don't feel the Ram is that much better on price, as you do.

Have a good one.
I see your point. I know that when I was looking
to buy a new truck I was amazed how expensive
GM and Fords were. Back in 1998 I was looking
at getting a used Ford but could not believe how
much dealers wanted for them. A used F150 with
close to 30K miles fetched about $17K!! GM trucks
are even worse. I like Chevy trucks but they are
just plain expensive. I know Dodge cars are a
whole lot cheaper than a Toyota or Honda. They
are over priced as well. Nissan seems to over
some pretty good deals on Sentras and Altima's.
At any rate you seemed to make the most wise
choice in your purchase.

Yout talking apples and oranges here! The
diesel option is allways going to be a lot
more in a truck than a gas engine.

Aren't the off road 17 tires 33 inches in diameter? Your 20 are 32. I still beat my dad's hemi with his 20s.

I know, but even a two year old dodge w/ a diesel went for more than my Titan.

LogicJunky - Duh! Of course I know that Detroit doesn't produce all those vehicles - it's a generic media term to refer to the Big 3 domestic auto producers. Also, I haven't seen any of the import trucks offer the array of options that are offered by the domestic truck makers - and Nissan has been making trucks, granted not full size, for many years - same for Toyota, etc.
Also, very aware of hoold back money and marketing money for the dealers, that one of the reasons other than the $5k in rebates that I just bought the Dodge Ram Hemi for well under invoice - it took two days to get the dealer there - but at 2:30 in the afternoon on the last day of Novemeber they caved in - Timing & Knowledge is everything in negotiating - especially with car dealers at the end of the month - Dodge gave each dealer 4 $500 coupons the last week of the month to use to make deals with - a fact I verified with other Dodge dealers - I managed to make the dealer use 2 of them on my deal.
I thought the Titan was a decent truck - & other than the common problems we've all had with them (brakes, a/c leak, etc) I have nothing bad to say about the Titan. I just wasn't gaga over it - & like some I never thought it was the the greatest gift to the truck world. I don't think my Dodge is either - but I do like it alot more than the Titan - and the 2002 Ford SuperCrew I had.

Since the 20"s on the Dodges are the same diameter as the Titans 18", I don't care that the Dodges are slower with them...I want to see how the Titan does with a set of 3.73s....talk about coming out of the hole hard!

Are their any Titan owners in this site that
have the 18" off road tires that can post
some 1/4 mile or 0-60 mph times? If seen
some 4X2 with 17's that have very impressive
times. But, none with 18's giving any times.

I thought the 18" wheel package, and the 17" wheel package were real close to the same diameter.

Per www.tirerack.com the overall wheel diameter for the 28570R17 that are the OEM tires in the off road package is 33". Sorry I have not taken her to the track, no times to give.
