Seat belt choke

Everytime I slow down the driver side seat belt wants to lock up preventing me from checking my blind spots. I'm not doing any emergency manuvers but just giving a touch of the brake pedal at 45mph before changing lanes. And it's really bad when I come to a complete stop the seat belt will stay locked until I move back in my seat. Does this sound like a faulty seat belt or is this something I will have to live with? I love my truck but this pisses me off. I'm for wearing seat belts but this to me could cause a accident in itself. Just wanted to hear a few coments before I bring my truck to the dealer.

Mine will do it once and a while and just yesterday my wife mentioned that her's locked up while we were just driving down the road - no stopping at that moment. I'm beginning to wonder if all the seat belts are screwed up, I had the rear center replaced (buckle is still on backorder - damn you Nissan) for the same reason.

Yes, mine does that sometimes. I have just learned to kind of lean forward/back/forward to get the stupid thing to release so I can move.

Seatbelt locking up has been one of the sore spots for me, but just like other defects on this truck, You learn to live with it. I've given up on the dealer trying to fix anything on this vehicle.

I don't know of any new make that doesn't have seatbelts that lock like that. All Nissans do. They have for a long time now. If you lean forward too fast, like to look for oncoming traffic, they'll lock. Try moving as little slower. And it's even worse if you're braking at the time.

I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but does anyone feel the seatbelts are to tight even if they are locking or not locking up as normal? I feel a lot of pressure on my shoulder. Yes I have adjusted it up and down at the anchor point with no relief. anyone else find this?

The seatbelts lock for a reason. It's a safety feature built into the mechanism so you don't end up impaling yourself into the steering wheel or windshield. Titan's just do it more than other car makes. My Tundra did it all the time. I've gotten used to it as it isn't all that unusual of a problem. Just bothers some people more than others I suppose.

My front passenger seat belt locks up all the time, you have to unbuckle it to get it to release, or it just stays locked tight and will not let go.

I rode in the back seat of a titan and man did I hate it, the seat belt locked up and to get it to release you had to unhook it and start over and then it would do it again. My friend said the front werent bad just the back....

There is a solution, cheap, from WalMart. See this thread: Coin Tray & Seat Belt solution
This is from that post: Read a post awhile back about the seat belts tightening as we drive. Mine does that and it's real irritating. Wally has two types of seatbelt clips that really fix this problem. One is called "Seatbelt Adjuster" and the other is "Euro-Clip", in the automotive gadget section. Both essentially clip and slide on the seatbelt keeping belt from tightening. They do not prevent the belt from locking in the event of an impact, just prevent the tightening efffect. Set of 2 either type is $2.88, but as far as I'm concerned, they're worth a their weight in gold!
I love em!

I read this post when it first came out and went to Wally world in search of said item, I found both ,but convinced myself they went on the lap portion of the belt to angle the belt to a better position and thus not freeing up the shoulder pressure any.
So If I get this straight you recommend putting the clip near the shoulder level anchor point to prevent the belt from retracting but at the same time keeping it loose over the shoulder? (makes sense now I think about it) If thats the case I see another trip to Wally world in my very near future. BTW which one do you recommend? Euro or seatbelt adjuster?
