'05 Diff cover, tailgate assist

Still trying to upload pictures, hope these come through.
Tailgate assist works wonderfull. You can let the tailgate fall softly to its stop and close with fingers, hardly any effort required.

kj22250.. Is that cover factory?
I have looked at 7 new 05's and not one of them has that cover on it! All the 05's that I have looked at look just like mine, the black tar looking cover.
I wonder whats going on?

That's how it came from my dealership. No big tow package mentioned anywhere on sticker.
Build date: 10/04

All the 05's, 7 in total had the Big Tow and were 4x4, none of them had the OFF Road pkg though. I wonder if that is why?

Thats funny, not only did the 05 trucks not have this cover on them. The 4 LE'S that they had, that had the TITanium Graphite interior were not the same color as the TiTanium Graphite interior in my 04 truck. The 05's are alot lighter!
I am wondering if the first batch of 05's Nissan is sending out is just a mixed batch and it will change in the 05 run.

If I bought an 05 and it did not have that cover on it I would be upset.

If you look closely, the cover looks like it was an add-on(at the last min.) before the factory released it. The rest looks identical to '04 set up. It should be an easy swap when available early next year.

Agreed, I think it will just be a replacement. What's more is that I think there will be a TSB on it...I hope....clearly Nissan thought it was enough of a problem that they changed the design.

Now that looks like a cover that could dissipate a tremendous amount of heat. Nissan obviously saw a need. As someone mentioned earlier, now all we need them to do is issue a TSB and replace all of ours for free.

I just came from the dealer and no, that cover is not stock according to them. They had 6 05s and none had that cover and one had the BT & OR pkgs, still the same black cover as the 04 model. Maybe that dealer added those. Sometimes dealers add little items to jack up the prices. Who knows. It's also not found anywhere in the 05 Titan brochure.
