Armada Roof Rack for CC Titan with Canopy?

I've been trying to decide what to do for a roof rack when my www.glasstite.com RavenII topper arrives in a couple of weeks. I want it to have the "curved" look that matches the lines of the Titan. Basically I want to avoid using the Thule mounts that I have now because they're too square.(worked great for my Honda Element though)

As I was driving home yesterday I noticed an Armada coming the opposite direction and it had the Nissan OEM roof rack system. I wonder if this would mount on the Titan's roof as well as the canopy?

Anyone have first hand experience with the roof rack? Anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work? (and save me a bunch of time researching it ;-)

Many thanks,

Chad H.

I have a Yakima rack and when you take all the crossbars and mounts off (I have to do that to get into the garage), it just leaves two small rails that don't stick up much at all.

Thanks

Thanks Bestatchess for the tips, but that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking to avoid ;-)

I want the roof rack system to look like it belongs installed all the time. Like the OEM systems that make aerodynamic sense. Both the Thuke and Yakima systems look like an afterthought.

Did you look at any other options before deciding on the Yak?

Thanks again,

Chad H.

I looked at ARE's rack but I thought Yakima was better. If you get a cab-high shell you have to be careful to measure any added rack height carefully if you want to get it into a standard garage door.

Hi Everyone,

New member here. Great Forum!
I kayak very frequently and want to install roof racks on my CC Titan to carry 18' long kayaks. I have seen the Yakima track solutions and they seem ok ,as well as the the OE ladder racks for the bed which I'm not crazy about. I want a rack that can stay on all the time.
For the people who installed the Yakima, how happy are you with them? did you use de 54" or the 60" tracks? how about where did you drill the tracks to the roof? In the rain gutter, outboard of the gutter or inboard of the gutter? why?
I was also thinking of just purchasing two of the Armada OE racks and drilling those to the roof so the roof rack would be fixed all the time but I'm affraid the factory racks might be too weak to carry for kayaks.
TIA for all responses and keep up the good work!
