2005 Power Rear Window

Well, just came from the local Nissan Dealer and found out some information on the Power Rear Window as it relates to the 2004 Titan. Both the Parts Dept. & Service Dept. said that the new window would fit in the 04's. So off to the service dept. for the cost of making the change. Rear Window was priced at just over $500, and the power regulator was priced at $220. Now for the down-fall: they were not able to find the wiring harness for the rear window. The Parts Manager mentioned that he believes that you would have to replace the whole cab harness. For when he looked it up all he was able to find was the 05 cab wiring harness as a whole unit. No where did it show the rear power window wiring harness as a seperate unit. He did say that you could take the vin number from an 2005 Titan and look for the wiring harness that way.

If anybody comes across any further info. please post. Wife is really hounding me that we should have waited the 6 months before buying. Not only would we might not have the brake problems, but she would have the few new features that are now on the 05 Titan.

i believe this can easily be handled by a competent stereo shop and installer. all you need is a switch, maybe even the factory one, and know-how to hook it altogether. price is not bad, i may consider this as a future mod.

You could always wire it separately with some good wire. It's most likely 2 postive wires and a ground. One goes up, one goes down, and of course the ground.

Where does the window retract into? Does the back panel of the interior need to be replaced as well?

Is the 2005 Titan service manual ready for download? Maybe you could look at the wiring diagram for the rear window and see if additional wiring can be done without replacing the harness.

Will all the equipment (regulator, tracks, GLASS, motor, etc.) Fit into that skinny place in the '04's back panel?
No harness extension will exhist for an '05 to simply "Plug in" to an '04. The power rear window was apparantly not a feature they planned on offering when the Titan debuted.
You will have to buy a whole new harness for all the power accessories in the cab, AND you might even have to buy a body control module from an '05 to control the new switch on the dash for the rear window.
This project could get expensive.
The window won't be powered directly. The switch is of a lower voltage than the power window motor and it will use the BCM like a relay to send out the 12V to the motor for that rear window.
I really hate how all the cars are becoming completely computerized. It makes it VERY hard for us do-it-yourselfers to do any mods.

Looking at some 05 pictures it looks like the back panel is different. The panel below the window looks like it was all plastic on the 05 as opposed to the material/carpeted panel in the 04s. The picture is a bit hard to make out for sure.
