dash/console removal

can someone please tell me how to take apart the center console, i seen a thread about this but the person removed the seats, is there a way to do it without removing the seats, im taking about the area where the shift gate is, and also how hard is it to remove the top of the dash? and how do i go about doing that, ive only seen threads about removing the area under the steering wheel and the faceplate, but not the top of the dash, thanks if anyone can help
