Question Ride difference between Off Road Package and standard shocks

I am close to ordering a Titan, I tow a bass boat in the summer and snowmobile trailer in the winter, I am thinking I want the offroad package since I think it will help with towing control but I do not want an overly stiff ride. Also, I love the Rugged trail tires that come with offroad package, it the ride much stiffer?

I like the ride with OR, (haven't tried a non-OR), but you should test drive both. If 4x4 OR you will get the E-LOCK, (12 MPH or less in 4LO only), which won't do you as much good towing as the VDC, typically found on the Big Tow.

I have the 4 x 4 Off Road and Big Tow....and it rides fine on the road when not towing...I would test both for awhile before you jump in!!!

For the boat ramp, the rear locker is a good idea. For the winter driving with the snowmobile in tow, you gonna want the VDC.

You're prolly gonna need two trucks to be safe, one with the offroad and rugged trails and stiff shocks, the other with the 18 inch rims, street tires and mushy shocks.

No need to thank me...glad to be of help.

I have the off road and I have no problem towing my boat. Hardly notice it is back there. Smooth ride either way. While on the boat ramp I put the e-brake on before I put in park. That way when I put in gear to drive off, the diff doesn't "Clunk". I fish by myself so I have to put in park. I have yet to put the truck in 4 wheel drive. Just put the gear shift to 4 and up I go.
Good luck
Jim

Off-Road package rough ride

I have a 2005 SE CC with the Off-Road package. The ride is very rough and bouncy. I am seriously considering changing the supsension components to non-Off-Road components. Does anyone know what components are different? Shocks, springs, torsion bars?

RoscoeJohnson.......have you tried tweaking the air pressure in the tires to help????? My Titan has taken my back pains away so far with the ride.

same here, test drove the 4x4 O/R and the ride was a bit rough but not bad overall. Although, it did swayed me in buying the SE non off-road 4x4 instead.

I find the ride to be much more controlled than the non OR truck. It's firmer without being harsh and seems to control axle hop around rough corners better. The dampers are much better quality than the factory units. It's certainly not bouncy or jittery at all. But it doesn't really contribute to towing stability.

I'm happy with it.
