Consequence of my clumsiness...any ideas?

While I was doing a 'minor' cup holder lighting mod. as described by Boone-Titan on 11/09/04, I inadvertantly crossed the wires to the light on the gear shift platform, and the light is out. The instrument panel, radio, AC/Heat etc. lighting are out, but only when the headlights are on, so night driving is very dark in the cab. No other functions on the Titan are affected as far as I can tell. What a bone-headed play!
I checked EVERY fuse, and they are all intact. The 'key' to the fuse on the inside of the fuse box cover is loaded with acronyms, and somewhat difficult, at least for me, so i checked all of them, including fusible links panel inside the cab.
I do not know what else to check/consider, thought it would have done a fuse in. Probably will need to service at the dealer. I appreciate any ideas; Thanks kindly. JRS / MukilteoTitan

Did you check the fuse box in the engine compartment?

Anytime you are making electrical mods, it is a good idea to disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Depends what your doing. A lot of times its better to have power during certain installs.

I thought it would be that one also, but it looked good, but I exchanged it for one of the other 10 amp: no change. Thanks for your message. Well, anyway, it is now at service dept. at the dealership..... will see what comes of their check.

I don't have to 'play' the part after what I did to my truck! The dealer service diagnosed a short in the illumination switch, $45.00 to get to this point; part on order from California... few days; don't know that cost, but at least I did not hurt the Titan too much!

Hmmm....

This sounds a bit familiar.

No illumination on A/C knobs?

No illumination on A/C knobs?

The switch should not go before the fuse. If it does, there is a problem. I guess we'll just have to see how more frequent this issue with the flakey illumination switch becomes.

When I was in the Boy Scouts, they sent me out one time to look for a
shoreline skyhook and a left handed screwdriver. I should have known better
after going on the snipe hunt.

Is that the kind of part you mean, Chris?

I haven't noticed my a/c knobs not lighting up anymore after someone
suggested to fiddle with the brightness control.
