We had 5 inches of snow over the weekend. It was great to finally try out the truck in 4WD mode. While doing this, I noticed something on the mirror that I can't figure out and can't find in the manual. Sorry if this is already covered in this site - tried a search without luck:
Right after I went over an ice patch on teh right side tires which activated the anti-lock brakes, I noticed the word ICE appeared below the compass readout on the rear mirror, where the temperature appears (it cycled between the temp and the word ICE). It could have been there all along, the reason I looked up was to see the outside temperature to determine if it was below 32 deg outside (it was 37 deg.). I did notice that after 10 minutes of driving it no longer came up.
Typically the temperature at which they flash the word "ice" is set at 38 degrees. The reason for this is that is the outside temperature necessary for bridges and overpasses to ice over.

You sure about this? I have a feeling it only does that if the temp is below 38* and you had a wheel slip. We've been WELL below freezing here and I've never seen that. I have the loaded SE and doubt it's only on the LEs. Is that possible?

Mine showed "ICE" and I noticed that it was 36 deg F. I was on dry roads... no slippage. Mine is an SE

I looked this morning while going to work. Nothing but the temp was displayed..unless maybe I missed it. Maybe it just flashes quick and goes back to the temp? I started the truck in the garage and the temp said 72*, by the time I got about a half mile or so, it read 28*. Like I said, maybe it happened quick but I didn't see it. Also, why doesn't the owners manual mention it? I'll keep a better eye on it in the morning.

Now if I could get the word TRAFFIC or DETOUR on it, that would be something.
Or maybe even a warning that there is an idiot driver in front of you so you can take a different route!!
EDIT- by the way guys, I've owned my Titan since mid-June and didn't realize it had the compass and temperature in the mirror until I read this thread. Checked mine last night, pushed the button on the mirror and what do you know, direction and temperature. Boy, talk about a dumb East Texas redneck!!

The owners manual does state that the temperature read out only updates under certain conditions. I don't have it with me but I recall there was a minimum speed the truck has to be at as well as some minimum amounts of time before it updates.
I'm sure I must have missed the ICE display earlier on my trip. Like I mentioned, I only looked up to when I noticed the anti-locks kicking in. However, it definitely did shut off after traveling another 10-15 minutes. Perhaps this was just a cooincidence where the temp rose a little and the system happened to be updating.
