I kind of left out a smaller V8 for discussion and poll question, so I'm trying this again. Maybe the Titan could get the 4.0 V6 in the new Frontier and Pathfinder(265hp, 284lb tq in Frontier) or a smaller V8 displacement (like 4.6 or up) See what you guys think?
No, buy a Ford or a Dodge but leave this beast alone.
I would like to see a supercharged model available.... That would be o.k., but no going backwards... No way.

I also say keep the 5.6 as standard. I think they should add a higher output V8 and a diesel as options. But like it was already said, don't go backwards.
I agree with nothing less than the 5.6 - but provide a diesel as an option

Smaller V8, what the heck for? Titan is a big truck, would be a dog with a lesser engine. Leave the lower hp/mileage engines in the smaller trucks. I want a diesel!!

a samaller v8 would not get any better MPG except in the city. I would like a Diesel but not mega power like a Ford or Dodge as they suck fuel almost as bad as a v8. i'd like to see a Diesel electric hybrid. or maybe cylinder deactivation on the v8 . Like the Hemi or new honda. There are lots of time I'm barely stepping on the pedal. Half the cyl could drop out and you'd never Know.
I've read that Nissan is looking into both a diesel AND the 4.0 VQ V6 engine for the Titan in the future. I think the 270+ HP 4.0 would be enough for some who want a larger truck but don't need all that power, crappy mileage and high-ish sticker. Me?...I wouldn't touch a V6 myself but, there are those who'd buy it. As for the diesel, unless Nissan makes a 1 ton version, I wouldn't bother with one in this 1/2 ton. Just my opinion.
imho i would say a smaller v8 could be a popular option. not for me but some people like a smaller engine, small companies looking to upgrade their fleet would like a smaller engine im sure. just like the chevy's running around, most of them affiliated with a company has the 4.8 instead of the 5.3. i think this would help the sells of the titan.
more sells for the titan meens more interest in accessories.

The mileage with the 4.0 VQ would probably not be appreciably better. My mileage with my F150, 4.2 V6 and 5 speed manual was only slightly better than with my Titan. The only reason they would do this is to make more money on the 5.6 as an upgrade option. They'll lose sales to the domestics if they do this, the wonderful 5.6 is the whole reason I decided on this truck over the F150. If I would have driven an anemic small V8 or V6, I probably would have said "what's the big deal" and bought another Ford.

My thought is, some people might prefer a V6 as they might think that it will be enough for them and they might get a lil bit cheaper on thier deal. But, in the long haul it would haunt them. Look how many V6 full-size trucks are in the marketplace vs the V8 versions. People want the 8's and they do retain thier value much better. A V6 would definately be a step backwards. Don't do it!
Nissan should definately add a Diesel w/a 8ft bed model and leave the current version trucks as they are.

I wanted to see what you guys and gals thought about V6 or Smaller V8.The more I read the threads,I believe the Titan would be best left alone, Keep the powerful V8. Another engine option probably wouldn't sell the Titan that much more, besides the big 3 pretty much has the fleet market locked up. Nissan couldn't compete w/this. That is why the Titan has the only standard V8 (of its size and power) in its class.
