Question Washer for oil drain plug - HELP

I went by the dealer and picked up a package of washers for the oil drain plug. The parts guy seemed to be a bit confused about what I was asking for, but looked it up in the computer and came out with some washers. I want to make sure I've got the correct part before I remove the plug and drain the oil. The washers are about 3/4" in diameter, 1/8" thick, and appear to be brass. Does this sound right? Can someone describe the correct part or give a part number?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, they're brass (at least in color) and pretty thin. They're designed to crush when you tighten the drain plug, thus preventing leaks. I don't have a part number, but they're pretty generic, as long as they fit kinda snug around the drain plug, you'll be fine. I don't think they're vehicle specific, as long as they're from a Nissan dealer. I paid around 5 bucks for half a dozen. Just be sure to tighten the plug all the way and actually crush the washer. I use them now on my Titan, but never bothered using them on any other car, and never had a problem with leakage. Oh well, better safe than sorry I guess.

most import vehicles use this type of washer. i had an integra that i had to change oil once a month due to lots o driving and therefore had jiffy lube do it. point is, they did not change the washer, which led to leaks, leading to overtightening plug, led to them paying for dealer to install new oil pan. my 97 pathy uses same oil filter and same drain plug gasket.

Actually, the washer is made of copper and is copper colored. Also, the washer I'm using is NOT thin like a regular flat washer but thick so that it will compress and make a tight seal when the drain bolt is tightened down.

Copper Colored...and they almost thread onto the drain plug. They look like they should compress when tightened (Titaned?), because they do compress.
It almost looks like 2 washers with space between them.

Call me a tight wad if you want, but I have over 15,000 miles on my truck and after 5 oil changes i'm still using the same washer. If it starts leaking i'll think about getting a new one.
My personal experience tells me that it's not that big of a thing to change the washer every time, leakage happens when some goone at the quick lube overtightens the plug to the point of stripping the threads on the oil pan.
It dosen't take a muscle man to tighten the oil plug, just good and snug will do.

Never changed the washer in my Frontier 104,000 miles and no leaks.
Don't expect it to be any different with the Titan.

I'll probably not replace the washer the next time I change oil. The darn thing fits so tight it's hard to get off. Last time I just cut it off with wire cutters because that was easier than trying to unscrew it.

Nissan tells you to replace the washer in the service manual. The emphasis is mine.

CAUTION:
Clean the drain plug and install with a new washer.
The refill capacity depends on the oil temperature and drain time. Use the “Refill oil capacity”
values as a reference and check the oil level using the dipstick when filling the oil.
5. Warm up the engine and check the area around the drain plug and oil filter for any oil leaks.
6. Stop the engine and wait for more than 10 minutes.
7. Check the oil level using the dipstick as shown.
Oil pan drain plug : 34.3 N·m (3.5 kg-m, 25 ft-lb)

Washer-Drain Part Number = 11026-01m02
This washer should last many oil changes, and if it ever leaks it's not going to be a catastrophic one.

I don't bother. Never have. I've not have any leak problems in 30 some odd years. Try and get that old washer off and the new one one anyhow...lol

I've never heard of an oil change that didn't have a specific amount of oil to replace. The engine holds a given amount of oil in it, drain it and replace it. Anyone else think it's odd?
