Gettin' a NEW Titan???!!!??

Howdy ya'll... I just ordered a new '04 SE Black CC 4x4...I'm having the dealer take all the chrome off the front end and replace the rear bumper with one from an XE so it can be painted black to match...Also changing door handles to the XE one so they are black also...Can you tell I like black??!! Been reading all the threads with lots of recurring probs with brakes and rattles...I must say I'm a little worried about this new truck...I have an '01 F-250 CC 4x4 V-10 (also black) right now with 128,000 miles and have had the brakes turned 3 times and they are warped again...Love the truck but tired of constant problems. Please tell me the Titan isn't going to be the same!!!!

If you like black and don't have step bars, I'd suggest these. I put these on and think they look great. I also like the black look, although my Titan is Red Brawn it has the black mirrors and door handles so I went with the black bars. These only took 1 hour to install and are all bolt on. Very easy install, my thirteen year old and I did it. Here's the link if your interested.

GOOD LUCK
ICE

BTW: Hope you don't have the brake problems some others have had.

You must like to clean too...

Ask for the build date on the Titan, I'm gussing your actually getting a dealer trade since they've stopped making 04's allready. This is where I went wrong, got a 05/04 built titan on 08/31/04, also a dealer trade...

learn from my mistake, dont get one built before 06/04...

actually thinking about going back to an RSX-S, oops did I say that out loud?

Only problems were radio, and distorted weatherstripping on rear sliding window.

I've noticed a lot of people seem to try to find fault with their Titans here. Let them drive the Fords, Chevys, and Dodges and they'll have a field day in fulfilling their obsession.

Have a good one.

Mine is a 05/04 and my only problems after 6K miles are a rattling passenger capt. chair on washboard roads, lower volume/less bass with FM on the Rockford Fosgate, but the CD sounds so good that I haven't got it in yet, oh and the map pocket on the back of the driver's seat has become un-attached a couple of times, (it has a really stupid plastic attachment clip that the full-sized after market headphones pushes out).

So although your Titan is a May build and you have issues with it, this is a pretty small sample size for you to be making a blanket statement about avoiding May builds.

All build dates of the Titan's are going to have some issues. I bet the 05's will too.

I felt the same way untill mine started going into the shop...

Have you been on TitanTalk long? If you'd like to search back, they did some kind of mid year re-structering or something in june, and most people with june or newer build dates dont have any issues...

Since your build month is the same as mine, have you checked your overhead console lately? mine cracked out last month, has been replaced...

Have you checked your A and B piller plastics where the clips are at the top of each to see if they are discoloring as if they are about to crack out?

My map pocket cover was falling apart too, you could see the ugly foam behind it...

TPMS system has NEVER worked properly, now that I have moved to a different state, hopefully a dealership down here can figure it out...

The rattle you state with your passenger seat might actually be the passenger arm rest, mine is. Funny, they said they couldnt duplicate it, but it started just as I pulled out of the dealership...

My dash rattles on bad roads, right where the black plastick meets the silver plastic up top. Yet they couldnt duplicate that either...

Passenger side window doesnt always like to roll up...

Visors were ripped when it was delivered, replaced the next week...

They allready replaced my stereo, it was great for a month, now its doing the same thing...

The interior pieces seem to scratch really easily, and the thresholds for the doors stain really easily, I'm not sure what its going to take to get them clean...

Seriously though, if you've been on TitanTalk long, you would know about this, might go back and look as it will help you spot issues as they come up. My brakes had been fine, but just recently started shuddering at 8K miles...

Take it easy,

None of those problems. The seat is the back or the mount since by pushing it, the rattle stops.
What is your TPMS?
Anyway like I said eveything, but the mentioned, works fine and I am more than happy with my May build, as I'm sure thousands of others are. Sorry for your issues, but I think you are projecting your experiences on to the May builds.

I personally don't think ANY of the little niggling problems that have come about for most Titan owners would be grounds to insist on an 05 over an 04. Unless you want the new rear window on the CC or a new red color, outside temp moved, tailgate assist or "TITAN V8" on the door, I'd go with the cash back on the 04. I did and am not sorry. You'll be just as happy INHO. There will be sililar issues with the 05's, just you watch. None of the "problems" on Titan (I know there are some with REAL problems that don't seem to be common) are so bad that the dealer can't take care of them.

Just keep your eye out for things swarren1, this site has helped me with that, I prob. wouldnt have noticed the overhead console was cracking out untill it would have fallen...

August built with 2500 miles and no problems at all. Solid as a rock. SE King Cab 4X4 No BT or OR. Only options on the SE were mud flaps and floor mats.
