3 fix wishes I want .....to start!!!!!!

OK....I hear others with the same issues out there but what is the fix so we can move-on?????? 1- The unreliable fuel gauge issue.....I loose 1/4 tank when decending steep hills and it usually does not come back up when I get to level ground. 2- The 4% odometer error.this is minor..but still not accurate and Nissan will have to honor more miles than the warranty states!! I have a 04 SEKC with the 17" wheels. 3- The bright orange radio display in the rear-view mirror both day and night really bugs me..I'm gonna put some black electric tape on it if I have to..but I'd rather not!!!
I've contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs about this and hopefully next week when my Titan goes in the shop for the transmission problem which is way bigger than my three wishes these issues will be cleared up!!!! I don't think I'm being too fussy and this has not slowed down my enjoyment much for my Titan.....and I'm planning on keeping it for 3-6 years so i want it to work properly. I had a T100 for 6 great years with none of these problems!!! And I'm confident Nissan can make these simple improvements!! Whose got the answers to my wishes?????? Thanx.......Tom

Don't you have a dimmer switch for the radio display? Mine does. That will take care of No. 3.

adjust the brightness of the radio display?

when I drive during the day, always with my lights on, I have it bright so I can see, but I have to turn it down when the sun goes down because its too bright. Try moving it down, just past that click works for me...

try that...

I guess I really dont have these problems either, they sound pretty minor to me compared to some other Titan issues...

Yes it is only minor wishes.......but good visibility in the rear view mirror is what the mirror is for...not to see my radio display!!!! The tranny is my only big issue..and it would be for you too if you had the shudder from downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear!!!
Again.....I love my Titan......and want it to be purrrfect!!......Still waiting for the answers to my wishes not downplaying them!!! Thanx again Tom

So you don't have a dimmer switch then?

Tom, I am not sure why the 4% odometer issue should bother you. You are getting free warranty miles, and actually 4% better mileage than you calculate using the odometer reading. If you somehow get them to fix this (reprogram or ? ) then when your tires wear down, you will be reading 3 -4 % too many miles on your odometer. The Titan comes with 2 sizes of tires, and the difference between them is about 4 tenths of an inch, or about 1 1/2 % on the odometer...I don't think that it is an issue at all. Just some thoughts...

BTW, mine is off 4% also...I get 104 miles for every 100 on the odometer. Yesterday, I filled my tank at exactly 300 miles on the odometer. Used 19.86 gals of gas for 15.10 mpg. Using the actual mileage of 312, the real mileage is 15.71 mpg. With today's gas prices, I like the second number better.

I'm so ashamed, I haven't noticed any of this. I don't rely on the gas gage, just refill based on the trip odo.

I hope they take care of the tranny, hopefully you don't have a long wait for a tranny to be ordered from Japan.

that is amazing! how do you guys know that you're off by 4%? i mean do you actually go over to the track and measure it by inches? Because you know driving it straight or slightly curve makes a big differences. Everytime you swtich lane on the highway will change the distance from point A to point B by a lil. How exactly do you guys know the 4%?

I don't know about the 4%, I checked my speedo againest my Garmin GPS, at 70 mph on the speedo. Mine works out to about 2% error, the speedo slow by 1.5-2.0 mph.

Can you turn down the radio brightness only? I get the HUD effect in my mirror also.
Did nobody at Nissan drive this truck at night?

Hey guys!!!!! I can't see how to dim the radio in the day..other than turning on the parking lights or headlights and I don't want that... in the night the only way to dim the radio is to completely dim the instrument cluster and climate control panel as well which is out of line with me also......now I don't see a seperate.."bleeping"...dimmer or even on/off switch for that "bleeping" display that shows in my rear view mirror day and night!!!! If I'm missing the dimmer switch please tell me...or I'll have to put electric tape on it...and that SUCKS!!!
The only reason I mentioned the 4% odometer error is before I bought my Titan I saw some of the posts here from you guys also noting the ~4% error. When I was buying from my dealer I specifically asked if that was true and he said the proper gear would come with the 4 x 4--Big Tow package I bought and he said it would be accurate...that's all......if this is true Nissans allowable odometer error I can live with it fine.!!!......no problem.!!!...and I checked it by pulling over at a mile marker on highway #40......zeroing trip A & B on the odometer..and checking every mile for 100 miles and did not pull into any other lanes..and used the cruise control at 60 mph and stopped exactly at the 100 mile marker.....at 10 actual miles the odometer said 9.6......at 50 miles it said 48....and so on......just a fact.....I can live with!!!!!!
The gas gauge being irradic I can live with to..but I think the sender may be sticking. I see other folks with gas gauge problems here that sound like a sticking sender to me also..but I really don't know the design of the sendor or sensor.....just think mine sticks.....and is under warranty...I keep track of my miles so I can live without needing accuracy with that also...last ruck did not do that.
I've also had the emergency brake stay on when the pedal has been released twice on a steep hill..I guess according to your attitude you would live with that one also!!!!!!
Hey Best..........my dealer says if a new transmissin is needed..it is only a few days away.....gonna check a high pressure line first then go deeper.if needed..and if so then it's a replacement tranny ..they said!!!!!!!
Well guys I thought you were gonna back me up here.......and help make the improvements I am looking for......that my T100 had!!!!!!!!! which was a Titan also!!!
Sounds like more folks are dead-worried about rattles and squeaks to me than safety!!!!
I think this site is great and so are you people who must be a "particular-kind" to buy the Titan in its infancy years.....and if you need help anytime you can call on me.......friends!!!

Hey Tom, Here are a couple of things that you can do to eliminate the radio reflection. I am 6'4" tall, and I can't see it...the angle is wrong. So just get taller. Now, once you get taller, you will find that the inside rear view mirror blocks your forward view (much bigger problem than the reflection IMHO). Also the sloping "A" pillars now block your view more,(especially when descending a hill, and turning left) and you find yourself bobbing and weaving to make sure that you are staying on the road without hitting anything.
The other fix is to put a sleeper on the back, with really dark windows. You will find that you can't see much out the back, and end up not using the inside rear view as much. At least that is how it works for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's kinda fun...using that exclamation point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you are laughing...I am

Am I the only one wondering just how the he11 someone can be bothered by the radio read-out being to bright....AND REFLECTED IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR? ROFL, how the he11 does that happen?! Are your eyes not on your head like mine are? LOL......J/K of course but, I can't understand what the problem is. Did this guy move his radio to the back seat so it's now facing forward, therefore he can see it in his morror???!!!!

I don't mind the radio display brightness, but couldn't stand the passenger airbag light gleaming off of everything. My fix - I put a small piece of window tint over the round light. Should be easy enough to do for the radio display also. You can buy some cheap limo tint from WalMart and experiment 'til you get it right.
I don't have the gas gauge problem. It does move some when going up or down hill, but always levels out.
As for odometer error, i just figured it will help out a little at trade-in time, by showing fewer miles.
