Talking 2005 Titan Tailgates

After seeing the 2005 Titan and how they've improved the opening and closing of a very heavy tailgate I've begun thinking about converting my 2004. The pneumatic strut sits behind the right-side tail light assembly, and it looks like there are changes to part numbers for both sides of the tailgate where it pivots.
Has anyone else looked into this, or done it already? After you've opened and closed a 2005 tailgate you'll want to!

It'd be really nice if Nissan put together a kit of parts to do this, ahttp://www.titantalk.com/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=83#
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/newt...thread&f=83#nd instructions wouldn't hurt either.

This has been already discussed before recently. Do a search. I have the parts already on order, but they are backordered with no eta. Only the right hindge of the tailgate is different, bolts and the strut.

How did your 04' come w/one? Was it a late build like 9/04 or something? Just curious. A 04' Titan I'm looking at had a build 9/23/04. I never did check to see if the tailgate had the assist. I thought they only came in the 05's. Maybe Nissan made a mistake on yours. (And hopefully on a few more Titan's) That is a SWEET mistake!!!!! Awesome.

Do explain... and please don't say that "gravity" is your tailgate assist.

Is it a simple mod? Do you only change out parts or is there some fab work involved?

My Titan was built in October and I bought it 2 weeks after the dealership received it. All I have to do is open my tailgate and let go and wallaaaaa, it slowly descends to a soft stop. Then I can use a single finger to lift it back up. I checked an 04' while at the dealership a week or so ago and mine definately has the assist. Those tailgates weigh a ton!!!
