I usually use my mp3 player to listen to songs but I do have a slight station fade when listening to FM and other channels. Is that usually the case?

I'm waiting for my new radio...dealer ordered it last week.......I notice with my radio..it is ok when first turned on...sometimes.....then after a little while it goes downhill with sound and reception. I hope the new one is corrected.

O.K., you know the 4 gage ground wire people have been adding to fix the tick? There is a little wire that runs from that bolt on the block to the passenger wheel well area. Is that related to an antenna ground?

Has anybody left the little wire in place and added the 4 gage wire and noted any effect on FM radio reception?

I also noticed my antenna was not screwed on all the way and that helped some.....and I noticed that when changing from CD to FM...all the settings for bass, treble etc. need to be adjusted for FM seperate from CD.....might be making folks think the FM radio is bad when it isn't?????? STill raining...haven't checked the ground wire either yet......anyone tried touching the antenna to see if it helps the reception????

I think there is a problem somewhere within the unit that causes reception issues. There is one station here that I listen to (that is WHEN I'm not actually listening to XM) that is one of the strongest stations around my area and I can be in the parking lot at work or in the drive through at Chick-Fil-A and I hear static.

It's not reception alone. I had my radio replaced but the new one, although holds the station fine, fades severely between mono and stereo with no change in the ST light or reception. It's in the radios themselves. Waiting for my second radio.

Had my radio replaced because of a faulty ground of the antenna.
I was told by the Service Rep that the antenna is grounded through
the radio chassis and not a "fender" ground. If you grab your antenna
and get better reception, they replace the entire radio.

I had my radio replaced yesterday, and I can't tell the difference in the reception. Also, I was having a problem with the "RDS" function of the radio, where the characters would not make sense half the time.

Question 1:
After having your radio replaced, was there ANY difference in the apperance of the LCD screen? Is anyone else having a problem with the RDS?

Question2:
After reading the TSB, I was under the impression that the original "Clarion" head unit would be replaced with a "Panasonic" head unit. Is this the case? And, how can you tell the difference (without taking the dash apart)???

Thanks for your help!

I'm waiting on radio number 2, but not for anything except the stereo/mono thing. Everything else works fine.
The Titan headunits are all Panasonic, not Clarion.

Well if you listen to that radio frequently then its worth getting the new radio TSB. The sound of it seems more clear and theres no fading in the FM reception at all. CD still sounds great and loud so no difference there.

The RDS 'scramble' is due to the signal within the radio signal has faded enough your getting an error/oddball character. The reciever needs a strong enough signal so that the data for each character is clear and displayed...with fade etc you will get bit errors and hence the funky character display.

Thanks Chris. That makes sense.

Which re-emphisizes the fact that the radio replacement did nothing for me. Kinda frustrating, the dealer couldn't fix my power window problem either (big look of surprise!). LOL

I guess my next move will be to check the antenna, as a few others have mentioned. I've noticed in the past that it would wobble around a bit, but it always seemed like it was screwed on tight.

Thanks for input!
