Topped off tonight. 2839 miles on the truck.
Burnt 243.54 gallons of fuel. You figure it out.

11.66 mpg plus 2.5% = 11.95MPG (+2.5%...speedo shows 60, gps shows 61.5)

All city, worst kind of city, lots of stop and go and few long runs.
Lite towing for less than 100 miles.

First 1000 miles just over 12.1 mpg then all tanks in the 11's.
Have not seen 12mpg since 1265 miles!

Mobil 1 in motor at 2000 miles and mobil 1 in rear end at 2000 miles...no change.

VDC off one full tank.......same thing.

Maxima 6 speed got 22+ at 85+ mph highway going to nascar race this weekend...I got a lead foot in that car though.

I wouldn't go by the speedometer error; instead I would check my odometer. My speedo seems to be very close while my odometer is 4.5% lower than actual. I checked the odometer over a 100 mile stretch of Interstate, and had a state trooper check my speed with radar (which usually is accurate within 1-1.5%).
Also, my truck probably doesn't do much better for city-only driving, while highway mileage (correcting for odometer error) is over 16 mpg. My thoughts.

I just dont understand how we should expect something that weighs this much to accelerate and pull the way the titan does to be fuel efficient.

I never said I was upset....just my observations. Someone might think that if they drive easy they may get over the rated 14......not around here!!!!!!!!!! Overall I am happy with my truck. No probs yet...other than radio fade.

At under 3k miles your still not really broken in on the truck.

Our last climbed just over 1MPG between the 5-6k range on the odometer.

When we traded her in, we were getting 16.8 MPG on the last couple of tanks at 28,848 miles w/Big Tow and Off-Road Pkgs. Both trucks are/were 2WD versions.

That driving is 60 Hiway/40 city and stop and go on the freeway.

It should still get better for you. But, if it doesn't then you might check the O2 sensors etc (Dealer) and see if she is running rich.

The new one has leveled out at 16.04MPG exactly thus far with just under 2k on her w/Big Tow but no Off Road Pkg.

I don't get it, I pretty much have the same truck as you but have the Off Road pkg. I've logged every fuel up and noted the brand and octane of gas used. Going off the odometer the worst I have ever gotten was the first tank and that was 13.2mpg. Lately at almost 14k miles I typically get 15.8-16 mpg thats driving in hilly mtn rural roads with the ocassional stop sign and some single lane passing. I also just got done a 4100 mile road trip, sustained 75mph I got anywhere from 15.5 to 16.5mpg. The best i've ever got is 17.2.
Start exp. with different brand and octanes of fuel. Any time i've ever used Shell gas, even from different stations I get 2 mpg less than any other type of gas I use. Also my numbers tell me its actually cheaper for me to run 89 octane, my truck always gets a .6-1 mjpg increase when 89 is used over 87. I have found that irving gas(local refinary) that their 87 performs like mobil's, texaco etc. 89 octane fuels however and thats typically what i run. I feel i have enough data and the consistancy of that data tells me that the biggest factor in my titans fuel economy is the fuel itself.

Funny you mention Shell as that is what I use 90%........I will try 89 at somewhere else and see if it changes at all. Thanks

how are you calculating your mpg? One person here was dividing the full 28 gallons in the tank by the number of miles they went every time and that is not correct. I am sure you already know this, but you shoud set your trip odometer to zero the next time you fill up and at the next gas station trip you should divide your number of miles on that tank by the number of gallons it took to fill it up, not the full 28 gallons that it can hold. I generally go 380 miles / 22.3 gallons = 17.04mpg and I am always in atlanta stop and crawl traffic. BTW I am not trying to insult your intelligence by saying you don't know how to calculate mpg, but your numbers seem REALLY low. I only get those kind of numbers when towing something.

I seem to do better around town then I do on the interstate. There is very little change in the two but still seems to be better in town. I do run faster than the average bear on the interstate and I am very cautious in neighborhoods so that may have something to do with it.

Yea I don't understand the shell gas thing. When I recently went on my 4k mile trip, from NH to TX and back I got shell gas a couple times, each time my MPG would drop, in fact the lowest economy numbers where all shell, I even looked for shell gas a couple times to just verify my numbers which it continued to do with consistant 14.3-14.6 mpg when the whole time on the trip i had been getting around 16mpg. Also if you have local oil companies with local refinaries try them out, it seems they typically have fresher gas, at least thats my experience up here with Irving gas. Which I've also had great luck running thier 93 octane in my boosted supra which doesn't hessitate to detonate when the fuel isn't quite up to snuff.

I have less then 2000 miles on my truck and I have gotten around 12 mpg on every tank so far. I do all city driving, and drive it like a grandma, I also thought I would see better mileage. Oh Well, still love it.

Have had my Titan for less than a month now. Didn't calculate the MPG for about the first tank or so but since then each time I fill up MPG seems to be 0.8-1.0 MPG better than last time. Last fill up was like 15.4 or something like that. I don't know about you guys, but I love the fact that I can whale on the throttle and beat the crap out of everyone else on the road AND get this kind of MPG. This truck keeps getting better and better.

I have had my Titan for about 2 weeks now, and the mileage has been steadily increasing. My first tank was 12.2 mpg, second tank was 14.1, and yesterday was 15.5 mpg. After that first tank, I was really hoping that it would improve, and thankfully it has. I drive about 60% highway, 40% city. I now have 1200 or so miles, but I haven't checked the odometer error yet. Need to do that soon....

I got 14.5 on my first tank and 15.25 on my 2nd tank. It only costs me $2-$3 extra to fill up my truck versus my old Ford F150, which had a V6 and 5 speed manual. I only fill up about twice a month. So I'm pretty happy with my mileage, I figure if it costs me $150 a year extra in gas, that's an acceptable tradeoff for the amount of power that it has over my Ford.

Just remember, since 1 November most of you are putting in oxygenated fuel. This helps reduce emmissions in the winter months, but also reduces mpg. I lost almost 1 mpg since they switched. I wouldnt worry too much. I still got 17 mpg on my 600 mile trip to Utah going mostly up mountains.
