Gas mileage complainers: What was your previous vehicle?
I'm just curious to see if some of the people who aren't happy with gas mileage actually owned a truck, SUV or other heavy vehicle previous to their Titan. For me, I owned a 2000 F150 Supercab (extended cab) with a V6 and manual and it really was only about 1mpg better than the Titan on mileage. So to me, considering the MASSIVE power increase, the fact that I am getting 15 mpg so far doesn't bother me, cause I was only getting 16 in my Ford and the Titan is way more truck.
So, what did you all own previously that got such great mileage?

TRADED IN 9/1/06 for something more fuel efficient. My gf misses the White Titan....lol.
I've got a heavy foot and drive 100% city, usually within a 5 mile radius. I'm lucky to get 11 mpg.
That is about the same as previous car, modified '87 mazda rx-7 turbo, which got 10 in the city and 18-20 highway, and required premium gas.
the truck only seems worse / more expense because when i do fill up, it costs more (25 gallons vs. 15 gallons), and i drive more and spend more on gas than in college.
2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara suv 4.0L I6
got about 13~14 MPG overall, about the same as Titan 4wd OR;
however, on the highway I've gotten 8~10 MPG on that Wrangler, but 14~15 on the Titan. Wrangler technology, while reliable, is old.
My current 2004 Element 2.4L v4 gets about 22 MPG, overall.
My old 1995 Ford-150 v8 pickup got about 16 MPG, overall in 1997.
.
My old 1986 Nissan 4wd 2.2L v4 mini-pickup got about 13 MPG, overall in 2003.
My old 1995 Jeep Wranger 4.0L I6 got about 15 MPG, overall, in 2000.
My old 1979 Toyota pickup (darn reliable, but no fun to drive!) got about 12 MPG, overall in 2003.
While i envy the 17+ mpg some 4wd Titan owner say they get I'm hapy enough with mine.

I had the Ford F-150 with a 302 and I got about 16 mpg, so you won't find any posts of me complaining about the Titan's mileage here - I got more HP and more mpg's, the world is all good
I had a V-8 Tundra.It got maybe 13.5 mpg city vs 13 mpg.Hy the Tundra got 17-18 vs 19+.They were-are a wash mpg wise.
My Honda Pilot get about the same city-13.5,but it can get 22mpg hy at 65 mph.The Titan might get 20 at the same speed.
4 CYL Toy manual-3 of them got 23-24 mpg city
4 cyl Toyota auto 19-20 mpg city
Dodge D-100 318 got about 13.5 mpg city-manual
Honda Accord auto-4 cyl-22 mpg city-
My Titan gets about what I expected city, and better than expected hy.It does as well in the city as my 1980 D-100-8 ft bed, which had just 150 hp,and weighed maybe 3600 lbs-no ac, single wall bed,no options to speak of.I'm OK with the mpg-pleasantly surprised at the hy mpg.Charlie

15-16 here. My last car was 19-21. Infiniti G35 Sedan 6mt.
Just sold my old 1985 Toyota extra cab 4x4. It was also darn reliable and no fun to drive, but it consistantly got 19-21 mpg (4 bangor)

Dude! B4 I got my 94 w/ the V6 I had an 85 SR5 Xtra-cab....best frickin truck by far! That thing had a squirrely engine that just kept chuggin'! Chrome mags, sun roof, towing mirrors (WTF?) and a flush mount canopy.....man I wish I woulda kept that baby!
1985 Nissan King Cab 4x4: 15 mpg if I was lucky. But, the truck was unbreakable.
I didn't expect good fuel mileage getting the Titan and it looks like I'll get even better than expected. 1st tank was 14.8 mpg in combined highway / suburban driving averaging 39 mph.
I also kept the better gas mileage vehicles:
1992 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo: 22 mpg
2000 Chrysler Concorde: 24 mpg
2001 Audi A6 4.2: 22 mpg
2002 Kawasaki ZRX-1200: 45 mpg
2004 Kawasaki KLR-650: 55 mpg
I started that last thread about gas mileage......Last vehicle was a 2001 F250 superduty kingcab with 5.4 gas motor. 11mpg around town and 12.5 highway. 4:10 gears. Love my Titan but was thinking maybe I would get in the 13's instead of upper 11's.....

2002 Tundra Xtra Cab I-Force V8 - I averaged 14-15 city and got as high as 18-19 highway. With the Titan, I get 12 mpg at best 110% city driving. I have yet to take it on a road trip, so no highway numbers yet. I came into it thinking that it wasn't going to be any better than the 15city/19hwy with the Tundra.

Previous vehicle was a 1999 Chevy Silverado LS 2WD with 5.3L V8. It was getting me an average 14-15 mpg (US) city and 19-20 mpg (US) highway. So my Titan with only 3,300 km has a ways to go to match those numbers. But what the heck, I love the extra power and lovely SOUND.
