Tire fit question

I have the Bridgestone Dueler tires on my truck. I looked them up and the approved rim width is only to 8". I want to get wheels soon but wanted to wear these tires out. The wheels I want only come in a 17x9.

So my question for you tire experts: Can I run that tire on a 17x9 knowing that they may wear a little funny but also knowing that the next ones will probably be either the 295's or 305's? Are there any safety concerns?

Thanks.

purists will say its a big problem but I don't think it will be. I ran 225's on some 8 inch wide wheels for a year or so before changing and it just looked a little funny. juma

I installed tires for 4 years to put myself through college. I'd say .5 inch difference in wheel width isn't much of a big deal, but 1 inch is kinda so-so.
