I got the tick!!

I have 700 miles on my '04 Titan LE Crew. I have heard the mysterious passenger side "ticking" sound a couple of times.

It is VERY faint....can barely hear it. Probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't read about it on here. Anyway, I got it.

It has only happened a couple times, always right when I start it up when it's cold and when I have it in drive. It speeds up as I accelerate and it goes away after around 30 seconds or so.

I can hear it but just barely. And it never lasts more than, like I said, 30 sec or so.

Should I be thankful that mine is not that bad. (I don't think that right now that it is bad enough that I would even mention it to the dealer, or attempt the "ground cable" fix...its not that bad) Or should I prepare myself for the inevitable?

Are some ticks worse than others??? Or do they all start off as minor as mine and then get worse and more frequent??

There is a thread with photos on the ground wire fix:

Fix for tick on passenger side area?

Start at post #7

I found that the easiest way to remove/replace the bolt on the block in question was through the passenger front wheel well (turn the steering wheel all the way to the left before starting this project), using a 1/2 drive ratchet handle, a long extension, and a 14 mm socket. (I think somebody previously posted this technique, so I don't claim to be the inventor) (anybody that loosened this bolt by reaching in from under the hood is one bad mutha deserving of great respect) I used a 32 inch 4 gage cable, which was about the right length.

Note that some people experienced a tick from other than electrical sparking (exhaust heat shield under the truck, etc.) that would not be cured by this fix.
