Unhappy Navigation system

Anyone know how to disable the start-up screen on the Navigation system on a 04 Armada? I want to turn off that page that requires you to hit enter "agree" every time the nav system starts?

it can be done I'm sure. This would likely do it.murano disclaimer removal
I assume you've not had your armada for very long. I quit noticing it after about a month or two.

Checked out the link and there is nothing there that talks about this topic. Maybe you could post an accurate link for the rest of us.

That is awsome...
I love the whole X-Box in the NAVI idea with the DVD, MP3 visualizations coming from the X-Box. I would love to do that once I get my truck.

Yeah, but it looks like he built his own "circut" or something to make that work. Now if someone can figure out how to do that without a crap load of soldering... That might be worth another peek.

I want xbox in my front screen as well. That would be sweet.

I didn't read the whole thread but I got the jist of it when he mentioned "PIC" processor, soldering 1 wire, and attaching another pair to +12dcV and ground.

Basically, what he's doing is using a PIC processor (an 8 bit microcontroller that sinks/sources 20ma) as a virtual "button presser." In other words, the PIC wakes up when you start the vehicle (it gets 12dcV at that time). The third wire is probably soldered to the back of the switch, and it gets grounded by the PIC after a programmed startup delay, to clear the nag screen.

I used PIC processors on an interface board I designed for Aqua-Ciser, a manufacturer of in-pool treadmills for health clubs, spas, hospital therapy etc. In fact, I've used 'em in all kinds of places, vending machine controllers, arcade game controllers, proximity sensors for bathroom devices, toilet flushers etc. They're neat.

It looked like just one solder for the nonag mod. The xbox only require cutting into the R, G, B and RGBsync wires.

That's pretty neat with the PIC Tom. Still, it's not "Plug thing A into hole B" kinda stuff. If I pay 38k for a truck the last thing I want to do is bust out a soldering iron.

It would be cool if you could make a device that plugs into the DVD Nav that senses the signals via the wires or something. I have no idea how a PIC chip works.. Sounds interesting.

My truck is due in Jan. I'll give it a couple of months to let the "newness" wear off, then I might start playing... who knows! Wires BEWARE!

A fifty cent bag of chips should just about cover it.

I agree wholly. The mod could also be done mechanically with a time delay relay, which is basically how the PIC processor is used virtually, through a few lines of coding with assembler.

But the point about this, is that we ought to be able to get offered a permanent disclaimer, a waiver from nissan that we could sign, so that they could flash-in a firmware fix to do away with the nag screen, instead of having to acknowledge it each time we start the truck....(sigh.)

Tom pretty much hit the nail on the head.

You can use a pulse module from this outfit to activate the switch for you. The pulse is time adjustable so you can have it set to activate the nav. after it has cycled and is waiting for the enter button to be pressed. These are cool little modules, they also offer them for remote windows up and other various tricks. I use one to turn my VDC off everytime the truck is started.

I like the permanent disclaimer idea. Sign this, flash, done. Simple, easy and effective.

JMC- that website touts a "Navigation Bypass Module" but I can't find any info on thier website on it. Wierd.

So how do these modules work I wonder? Seems to me that the signal sent to the nav unit would be internal to the unit itself. All the DVD under the seat does is send information about maps and the initial software load. .....Hmmm... there's a thought, I wonder if you could figure out a way to hack the dvd software.... If that is where the nav "operating system" is stored, there HAS to be a way to modify that.

The plot thickens.... BWhahahahaa
