Question Sirius Sportster w/ Car Docking Kit???

My boyfriend drives a Titan and I am planning on getting him Siruis Sportster satelite radio for Christmas. I found out that there is one that comes with the Sirius unit and a car docking kit. This is $50 more than just buying the unit alone. I am not sure if he will need the car docking kit or not.

Any suggestions from someone who has installed this in their Titan?

This is the one I am looking at:

I have the Sporster in my Titan and it works great. I highly reccommend it. I have the display mounted in the pocket on top of the dash.

For the Sportster to work, you must buy either the car kit, or the home kit. The unit plugs into the cradle of those kits, that is where the power wire, and antenna wire plug in.

TitanGF - if you end up really liking the Titan, but not keeping the boyfriend for some reason, there's several more of us to choose from!

I like the Sirrus Sportster as well (but will be buying it for myself if I get one.....), so let us know how he likes it installed in his Titan. And congratulate him on having a great GF too!

I too have the SIRIUS Sportster unit. I first tried mounting it on top of my dash unit above the radio like 'babylon', but after a time, the sun and heat baked the unit so bad that finally I had to get it replaced... Luckily I it was still under warranty so be careful!! In any case, after that, I relocated the docking unit down lower and just to the right of the AUX input. It works great...

One other side note, the FM Modulator in the unit works fair. Since I moved the unit closer to the AUX input, I just now used a direct line from the LINE OUT to the AUX INPUT. You get great sound quality compared to the modulator but you do sacrifice level... that is, don't expect your truck to bouncing down the road to the latest Eminem tune using the AUX input...

HAHA, I'm glad you have a Titan Girlfriend, but it isn't THIS TitanGF. Gig'em was correct in guessing who I was. Thank you all for answering my questions, but I was a little bummed that Gig'em knew what I was getting him a while before I gave it to him.

Gig'em, I think you need to dump your girlfriend...it's past Christmas and she is just NOW getting you your present. Oh wait, get your present first and then dump her

With you being an Aggie and all...I didn't know sheep could type?!? Most of you Aggies do date sheep after all, right? I guess you are just one of the few sophisticated ones.

Just messing with you. Have a great new year and enjoy your Sirius!!!

BTW, I wouldn't let Best Buy install it if you value your dash. Do it yourself or go to a reputable shop that will do it for a small fee. There are too many horror stories of BB messing up installs.
