Dash Parts Removal

I am thinking of getting one of them NYC dash kits advertised on this site. Has anyone removed the dash trim pieces around the radio, heater vents etc.? Is it hard to do without breaking something?

I might be wrong, but I think those pieces just stick onto the dash trim that is already there.

That's right. You should adhere all of your pieces with your dash parts in place anyway so that you can ensure that everything is properly centered. All of the parts simply adhere to everything existing. Nothing should be removed for any reason.

Has anyone purchased one of these kits yet? I am interested in getting one but I haven't heard from anyone that has one and they don't have any pics of the website.

OK. What if I want to paint the parts. How does one start removing the parts? I saw a post on here somewhere where someone removed them and painted them black.

Most Of The Dash Is Snap Together. There Are Some Hidden Screws. Start With The Glove Box,and You Start Seeing Screws. The Center Section Is Snaped On At Top. Grab At Top And Pull Forward. Be Careful Tho There Are Screws At The Bottom. If Something Doesn't Feel Like It Will Come Loose, Take Something Else Off And You Will Find Screws.sorry I Couldn't Be More Descriptive, Maybe There Is A Thread That Can Help. I Only Took Apart Enough To Get To Stereo Wires To Hook Up My Amps.

Go to the dealer and ask if you could peak at the shop manual - I've done that on a previous car that required me to remove the whole dash and passenger side airbag just to install a damn radio.

I prefer the Sherwood real brushed alum. kit.

it has a nice look and the knobs, etc...have labels that look factory. Was not impressed with the NYC kit that I saw.
