White lettering paint for tires?

I rubbed off some of the white lettering on the tire where it says Goodyear. Did it on a curb and a log. Is there any type of paint I can get at an auto parts store to restore it to the original look?

This may seem kinka dumb, but are you sure you rubbed it off? In other words, have you checked to see that it isn't just hidden under dirt that was transferred to the tire when you rubbed it? If you already know for sure (and you probably do), then this might be a good time to take them to a tire shop and have the raised white letters turned in so that the totally black side of the tire shows to the outside. I personally don't know of any paint and I always assumed that the white color was actually the rubber compound itself and not something that is "painted" on once the tire is manufactured. Sorry...I know this wasn't much help.

VShortt is probably right as I had the same problem but used some Ajax and a wire barbecue brush and the letters came out white as new. Be careful to not get the Ajax on your rims as it is very abrasive. Hope this helps.

I've found that Simple Green works pretty well on the letters, and its fairly safe for your rims too. It is true that you can go all the way through the white letters to the black rubber. I always parked my truck in front of my house from the time I could drive up to my college years. I rubbed the heck out of the tire on the curb.

Simple Green is great. It requires very little effort with a hard bristle (I personally wouldn't use a wire) brush. Simply spray it on, rub with a bristled brush for about 10 seconds, and rinse with water. At first, the letters are going to get very dirty to the point that you can't even tell that they are white, but as soon as the clean water hits them, the white shines like brand new.

Try useing a ScotchBrite pad with regular car was soap. It has just the right amount of abrasiveness. Works great for me.

Couldn't get the link to open but I thank everyone for the info. I do clean the white letters on the tires with Brillo pads or SOS pads and it works great. I just had the feeling that the white got rubbed off cause I felt the tire rub the curb pretty good. Lifted the truck up alittle then slid down. This was at very low speed, ie... the drive up ATM at the bank. I will try it tonight with the brillo pad. Hope its only dirt. Hope I didn't rub the paint/white rubber off. Not that big of a deal, just picky about the truck looking good. Have thought about doing the tire swap (turn the white lettering towards the inside). Would save some clean up hassle. Can the tire store screw up the valve stems/tire pressure monitors if I have then do it?

I'm pretty sure we've all got 5 RWL Goodyears on 5 alloys. The spare doesn't have a pressure monitor in it, though. Swapping the damaged tire with the spare tire might be a better solution if you'd rather not turn 'em all inside. Cheaper, too.
You deserve an official TitanTalk honesty commendation for not telling us your wife or girlfriend did this.
BTW, I'm another Simple Green/Scotchbrite advocate.

Yes, they have to either take the nut off of the sensor and let it drop inside the tire, or start breaking the tire loose 90° away from the stem.
