Bug Deflector Question

Guys,

I picked up MY'05 Titan CC LE yesterday. Sweet, sweet, sweet.

I have a question though...
From those of you who have used them, do bug deflectors work? Are they worth having? Do they make a difference? (The LineX place here in town has them for $70 installed.)

Thanks in advance for getting back to me.

I wouldn't be without one....and don't drive behind open/uncovered dump trucks..it's hell around here with a quarry close by!
My NISSAN parts man said the OEM supplier went bankrupt so you may have to find another supplier.

Agree Tom. I put a Lund X-Terminator on my KC and have noticed fewer bugs seem to hit the windshield (maybe it's just the time of the year??) but also have noticed several "dings" in hood protector which likely would have resulted in paint chips w/o the bug shield.

Check out www.Courtesyparts.com. They carry a Nissan deflector that installs easily. Not all that expensive either.

I don't think any of the shaped deflectors are designed well to stop bugs from hitting your windshield. They are just too aerodynamic. I've seen a slight difference with the Nissan deflector. They sure do protect the leading edge of the hood though. Maybe one of those old deflectors that was 4 or 5 inches high and stood straight up would make a noticeable difference.

A buddy of mine bought a 04 F150 and had the 3M clear protective material applied to all the leading edges. It's a nice clean setup but expensive to have installed.

I have never haad one but have orderd mine through Greg with Mossy Performance. This is suppossed to be the Nissan OEM model. Cost was $71 delivered to my door. Not sure is that is a good price or not but I will try and support a site sponsor when I can. They are the one's that help keep this place going. Plus my local dealer wanted $118.00 !!!!!

My wife said it is going to mess the looks up but I already have one chip from where a rock popped it and don't want anymore. Casue as you know those boys over at the Dodge site think truck is Butt ugly anyway

Just installed mine today. I ordered it from Lee Chrysler Jeep, Dodge, Nissan in Maine (I'm in Nebraska). I found them on the internet. The only thing I didn't like about the other aftermarket companies, is that they didn't provide a picture as to what their bug shields looked like. I ordered the bug shield and some other stuff from them and it arrived about five days later. The cost for the shield alone was $70.00 (plus shipping for that and the other stuff).

The only thing I didn't like about it was that there are screws on the outside of the bugshield that you cant see when looking at the Nissan parts catalog, however, it looks nice!

I wouldn't pick mine up unless it had one! Not only does it protect the front edge of the hood but, it also keeps things from flying up and scratching the rest of the hood and protects the windshield (a little).
Besides, on my white truck, the black shield is an excellent contrast.

Question

Only thing is closing the hood..how do you do it???? Push on the deflector or pull the hood from the end of the deflector to lower hood?????

Sort of...a little of both. I tend to pull on the latch area to lower it but seeing as the hood is fairly easy to close, I've also just pushed on the bug shield to close it.
