Stained Seats

Hi everyone, is there any good seat covers out there yet.
I spilled water on my passenger seat and now it has a huge stain!

Strange that plain old water would stain the material but, I'd try cleaning it using a machine like the little green clean machine. Since regular water stained the seat, you may have to do all the seats to be sure they match. Also....try just plain water on the rest of the seat! let us know how you make out. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me. I was outside in the rain, wearing a CLEAN fleecesweatshirt, got in the truck and not thinking I put it on the passenger seat. The da*n thing stained the seat. Not even the dealer can get it out.
I don't know why water would stain it, but that is all that it was.

Monday the truck goes in for breaks, and they are replacing the seat because they can not get the stain out. I lucked out that I have this scotchguard warenty on it, and if it gets stained by anything except blood or ink, within the first 100,000 miles they will clean it free, and if they can't get it out they replace the whole thing!

When I got the truck I thought I will probably never need this, and it would be a waste, but the guy threw it in free because he had already had the seats scotchguarded, and I refused to pay for it. I never told him to due it, and he was trying to jack up the price, I almost walked out with my old truck, but he threw it all in free, so now I am glad that I have it, of course, no one ever told me water would stain the da*n thing.

Good luck with yours. I have found a product called "Tough Stuff" works pretty well on most things, I have not tried it on this, but I know I have gotten coffee stains out with it, It is a spray on foam, that you can scrub into it with a bruch, and then vacume it clean. Works really well. Good luck with it!

...been pretty successful with "Spot Shot" comes in tall blue can w/orange writing and a bright orange lid. Pretty cheap from Costco
Just a liquid aresol, no foam, let sit for a minute and stain usually disolves. If not, BLOT the spray out until dry and repeat. Use in truck seats, carpet, floor mats, in house carpet, on doggy bed, etc. Even works on ugly x-mas sweaters just found that out.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try this stuff on a stain on my driver seat. I was driving around with one of those soft "blue goo" ice packs on my lower back and the dang thing burst on me and oozed leaving a stain.

I'm considering seat covers, also.....so anyone who's installed some on their Titan that fit snug and look nice, please let us know. I'm not a fan of covers, but it appears this material stains rather easy.

I bought some Neo supreme covers from a local seat cover place.Cost me $159.40 with tax for the front bench seat and I really like them.Next month I'm going to do the rear.

Here is a web site that carrys them. You won't see the Titan listed but the seats are pretty generic, 2A bucket seats is what my receipt says. I got the Black/charcol matches the interior pretty good.

Did you have your seats Scotchguarded? I don't think the come from the factory that way but, I could be wrong.
If not, maybe the remedy would be a proactive one and we should all have them scotchguarded.

Any thoughts?

I did have them scotch guarded, but your right they did not come from the factory that way. The thing is the dealer did it to them after I agreed to buy, and picked out the truck, but before I went in to sign the paper work and pick it up.

So buy the time I got there and was going over the paper work, they suggested that I have it done. I was thinking about it, b/c it was going to be like $600. and when I asked them, if I wanted to when could they do it? Then the sales guy tells me that it is already done, and that I will not need another appointment. He just figured I would want it and was then trying to charge me the $600. I nearly walked out, but anyway, I ended up getting the scotchguard and the warenty for free.

The only reason that it would be good to have it done is for the warenty though. I mean, I have the scotch guard, and water has stained the seat, the only thing that works is the fact that they will replace the seat free to get rid of the stain.

A couple questions come to mind then..

Is it possible that the seats stained becasue they were scotchguarded? It is weird that plain clean water would stain but, hell....I guess stranger things have happened...lol
Also, what the hell could cost $600 when a can or two of Scotchguard should do the trick? Anyone know if there's some difficult way of applying it that would make paying $600 worth it? Good thing you got yours for free!
And if plain water stained my seats, Scotchguard or not, you can bet I'd have the dealer replacing them!

Good point, I never thought that possibly the scotch guard is the reason that water stained it.

Mkelee, DO you have dealer applied scotch guard on the seats?

OneBadSE, I agree completely about the cost of it, that is why I nearly left, there was no way in hell I was going to pay for it. It pis*ed me of like you would not believe. I actually had to go outside an take a walk, I would have left but the wife wanted to give them ONE chance to fix the paperwork and see if it worked b/c they gave us a great price and a great deal on our trade, Best of 4 dealers. And honestly, I have no proof that they put anything on the seats, I have the warent and they said they did, but with the stains I kind of wonder.

If my seats where scotch guarded its not in my paperwork and I was not charged for it. It looks ugly. I have spilled many things in both my ford and chevy but I cannot remember having water stain the seats , I mean its just water.. not coffee or soda or somthing to that effect.I will try some of the tips above. I was just going to show the seat to the dealer because of some fraying at the front corner of the seat, now I am concerned that they give me crap about the stain. Probably not, but I am not that trusting of dealers in my area right now. Thanks everyone!

I too....

can vouch that water does indeed stain these seats. We were camping and loaded the family in after swimming one day. Mistake!! The wet towels stained the seats. We have the charcoal colored interior and it has not been scotch guarded.
