Another Titan With Blue Smoke At Start Up!!! Mine!!!

Left For Work This Morning And Happened To Look In Rear Veiw, And Saw Some Smoke. I Turned Around And My Neighbors Just Happened To Be Out Side, and Sure Enough They Confirmed A Lingering Blue Smoke Coming From My Truck!! My Wife Had Thought She Seen Smoke A Week Earlier. I Dissmissed It Has Water Vapor. Unfortunately I Was Wrong. It Only Happens In The Morning After Long Sit.just Like Leaking Valve Seals On My Chevy With 230k Miles On It!! I Did A Search And Found That Other People Has Had This Problem Also, But I Could Not Find A Thread Showing A Fix!! Didn't See A Tsb Either!! Has Any One Got This Fixed? I'm Freaking Out!!!! Truck Only Has 3800 Miles!! Not Acceptable!! I Hope Some One Has Had This Fixed. Please Respond.

[edit] SORRY ABOUT CAPS, IT WAS ALL IN CAPS AND GUIDED MODE DID THAT. I UNDERSTAND NOW. I SUCK AT TYPING.

Ugh, please stop capitalizing every word.

One question, does the engine oil level go down on the dipstick, that is, is it actually losing a lot of oil? If it isn't, I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you baby it when it's cold.

Also, what oil are you using? If it's a 5w30 and you're burning it, might try going to a 10w30.

One thought I had after my previous posting, maybe you babied it TOO much on break in and the rings didn't have a chance to seat properly? I ended up buying the truck that I test drove, which was not my original intention. It had 7 miles on it when we drove off the lot and I tore the hell out of it (multiple runs to redline) on the test drive. lol....oh well now it's mine and seems none the worse for the wear.

[edit] then again with a name like Hemi Smoker....ehh probably not babied.

If its only at start up I would be inclind to suspect the guides as apposed to the rings as you suggested

Yes only at start up. I'm thinking valve guide seals also. If it was the rings it would'nt stop.

I use castrol 10-30 syntec. Serviced at 500 miles, 1500 miles, and did dealer service at 3000. Dealer also used castrol 10-30 syntec.

I was hoping someone with same problem had gotten there's fixed.

EDIT - OOPS IT WAS 5W30

Where are you living? I Know for a fact that these engines really don't like 10W oil as it gets cold?

Hey my Harley is fuel injected and when it's cold I get a puff of blue smoke because it's rich(I've started it with my hand on the exhaust)have someone stick their hand on the exhaust and see if it smells like gas when you start it up.

Ocala, Florida. oops My mistake, it is 5w30! First time I used 5w30, first new vehicle. I always used the 10w on my other 30000 plus vehicles.

10w30 would be fine in Florida, I'm using it in Texas. What I thought was a problem with it turned out to be the stupid aftermarket filter I put on. It's happy again with the Nissan filter.

Syntec at 500 miles? I know Syntec is only a Group III basestock and not true synthetic, but it does have esters in it. I am sticking with straight dino until at least 5000 miles.

My problem as nothing to do with the type of oil I am using, but since you brought it up,in a previous thread, someone said that the Corvette,Cobra Mustang,Dodge Viper and Aston Martin all come with 100% synthetic from the factory. My dealer recommended the syntec and that is all they use.

First of all,Dont panic!!!!!! drive it at least 1500-2000 miles and keep an eye on the oil level. I find it VERY HARD to believe that its using oil!!!! The smoke that you see could very well be, either unburned fuel or small amounts of contaminates in the converters, that dosent burn off until the cats get fully heated up!!!! JUST ENJOY YOUR TRUCK, and keep us posted.

Most dealers are not lubrication experts, either. Oil is treated more as a religion than a science. I hope they don't charge you too much for that syntec, because it isn't worth the retail price due to not being a true synthetic. It uses a Group III conventional basestock rather than a Group IV PAO basestock. Not saying it isn't a good oil, but Castrol switched from a PAO basestock to a hydrocracked conventional (group III) basestock and pocketed the extra profits.
