How do I fix my squeaky seat?

Besides losing weight, does anyone know where to lubricate the driver's seat to stop the squeak?

I hate to take it to the dealer and leave it for a day for a 30 second fix.

Thanks!

Mine was squeaking and it was driving me crazy! My problem sounded like it was coming from the seat, but it was actually the seat belt latch. Spray some WD40 in where the rivet allows the latch to move back and forth and haven't had a squeak since!

Same problem. Unlatch the seatbelt while underway and see if the squeek stops. If so get some silicone spray. WD-40 kinda stinks and it didn't stop the squeek for me.

Good Luck

Its not the seat. its the seat belt buckle. WD40 does wonders

It took me a couple of weeks to find this squeak!

Had some seat squeaks..lubed up the sections where the seatback meets the seat bottom and it's gone. You'll need a 90 degree phillips driver to pull the little plastic cover off...

I have it too. Tried the lube on the seatbelt latch and it has not worked. Someday I'll take some of the trim off and do as adjmcloon suggests. If I can't fix it by the next routine service visit I'll have the dealer look at it.

I've already had the drivers seat frame replaced and it was a short term fix. For those who are on the beefy side the drivers seat squeaks likes crazy. The seat is just plain cheap. I have always been about this weight and this is the first car or truck that I have had this issue. I am hoping that the 2005 drivers seat (which I read was redesigned) will fit in my 2004 truck. I am going to ask my dealership about it. How much do you weigh DaveS? I am north of 3.

I weigh 180, pretty average, and it's squeaks on every little bump. It even squeaks when the 120 pound wife drives it. I'll try the seat belt lube tonight and report back in the AM.

My passenger seat creaks when the vehicle torques over humps or on sharp turns...anybody else have those symptoms?? It will do it with & without a passenger in the seat.

Mine does exactly that! Even without a passenger, I can reproduce the squeek by putting my hand on the seatback near the headrest and just moving it a little. I guess the first step is applying a good silicone lubricant to the joints bet. the seatback and the seat.

That's the one. I had it bad on my passenger side, and lubing the joint fixed it.

My driver's side is creaking a little now, but it's coming from where the seat is mounted to the floor...more lube on the way I guess.

Damn cheap-*** interior.

Exactly the same...but where is everybody applying the silicone, where the back joins the seat (recline hinge point) or are you applying it somewhere under the seat?

Use a 90 degree phillips driver to get between the seat and console and pull off the plastic cover where the seat back meets the seat bottom (round trip piece) You can then loosen it up a bit and lube, tighten it all back up, and it should be good to go.

I used one hand to push/pull the seat around to reproduce the rattle, and then just traced it from there.

I had the same problem. Sprayed WD40 in the hinges and it went away for about two days, then came back. I guess I need to use the silicone spray and see how it works. Mine is in the hinges on the passenger seat. It drives me crazy!!!
