Are there any better ways besides using blocks to get the rear lifted about 1 or 2 inches? I got the prerunner lift in the front and would like to lift the back a bit. any suggestion is appreciated

What is the point of installing the leveling kit if your just going to raise the back end of the truck with the leveling kit installed?

Were it me, I would have a spring shop re-arch the whole pack to the desired ride height...and at the same time might have them add a leaf to bump up the carrying capacity. Blocks are a cheesy way to lift a vehicle IMO.

Even without adding a leaf to increase load capacity, wouldn't modifying the leaf springs change the ride quality? It is my understanding using a small block gives a little lift without changing ride quality (unless you change shocks with the blocks).

Okay, I can see why you are raising the rear now. I agree with lienoX, blocking a suspension is not the ideal or safest way to go IMO.

Can't be too bad - Dodge and Ford have been doing it FROM THE FACTORY for years. Lots of their 4x4 trucks have the 2x4 rear springs with a 2" block between the perch and spring pack. They even tack on a bump stop contact arm off the side of them to simulate the axle tube, so they don't have to use longer bump stops. Take a good look when following Ford and Dodge trucks of the previous body styles than are currently out.
I'm putting the parts together now to add 2" on my rear. 2" custom untapered steel blocks which I fabbed. New 5/8" grade 8 custom-made U-bolts (OEM are 0.506"), flipped to point upward with rounded bottoms passing under the axle. Custom 3/8" steel spring top plates. And longer shocks.
I did not buy Greg's kit as a "leveling kit", I bought it as a 2.5" front lift kit, which is exactly what it is. I have not intended to wait for Rancho to come out with a short kit.
Air bags.....?? Had them installed on my Tundra. You can take them down to about 5 or 10psi to maintain ride quality, but still add a little lift, or you can crank the pressure up for heavier payloads when needed. Just a thought.

Just re-arching them won't change the load, just the position. Adding a leaf would make it ride about 10% stiffer. I've done this on a bunch of work trucks with good results--read: thousands of pounds and harsh terrain for work and a good ride when not loaded...
It even worked on my last vehicle (Xterra with 2 extra leafs, re-arch and shackles for 5" of lift) and I regularly carried in excess of 1500# worth of tools and even a generator in the back--and the X got wheeled fairly hard on trails in the Sierras.
Since we are only talking about an inch or so, the rear shocks should be fine. The blocks would be the cheapest way by far to accomplish the task, just not what I would do personally.

Deaver makes custom leaf springs (others do as well)
Phedge,
Mike replaced his stock leaf springs with a custom set of springs manufactured by deaver.
I'm actually looking to do the same thing. They will manufacture springs which provide the exact amount of lift which you require. The only caveat is that they are expensive.
