I had bought an extra set of 17" OR rims from a guy on this forum and ordered some Cooper Discoverer M&S at SWIS Tire in Castle Rock, Colorado. I dropped the rims off for them to mount & stud the tires. Then I stopped by today for them to put the rims w/ snow tires on the truck. I had a conversation with them stressing the importance of not over-torquing the lug nuts so as not to warp the rotors.
While waiting for my truck, I was getting bad vibrations when a guy came in and demanded that they buy him a new hub cap lost because they didn't put it back properly. But then I was feeling better when they apologized and immediately agreed to buy the hub cap, and I heard the guy on the phone afterward promptly ordering a new hub cap.
So, as they were pulling my truck out of the shop, the left front wheel falls off, and the truck falls on the rotor, shearing off one lug stud (and causing who knows what other damage). It seems they had neglected to put the lug nuts back on that wheel. Unfortunately, the fender and fender liner of the truck also falls on the tire, smashing the fender into the door and hood, causing what looks like a few thousand dollars worth of damage to my truck, and temporarily peaking my blood pressure.
So obviously their insurance will be picking up the tab for my truck.
I should have just picked up the rims w/ tires and put them on myself. The first time I let anybody do any work on my truck, disaster strikes.
I am just truly thankful it didn't fall off at 75 mph on the highway.
Did you see this happen? I don't know how I could contain my anger. You're very lucky you weren't in the truck. Hope the repair is quick and done well.

No, I didn't see it happen. The sale rep guy at the desk went to check on the delay and came back, ashen faced. So I knew something bad had happened. We went out to the truck together, and I just about went ballistic. I made them drive me back to my office immediately to give me a chance to calm down.
I have them taking the truck to a premium quality body shop (after they get the wheel back on) where a personal friend of mine works. I am also going to have it inspected by the dealer for suspension damage.
Looks like I'm not the only one with really crappy luck. Sorry to hear about that.
I'd certainly be making sure the tire store carries GARAGEKEEPER'S LEGAL LIABILITY coverage. Ask them for the carrier name and number (or their agent info) and get in touch with them immediately.

Man, not only did you get a lemon from Nissan, your luck with the truck is awful! You better trade that truck in for a 05' before it becomes your coffin! I hate handing my keys over to anyone to drive or work on my truck. It about killed me to see some young punk drive off in my new truck when I got my front windows tinted and my canopy put on. What really irks me is when the dude goes to take my keys with his greasy hands! I asked him if he was going to wash his hands and he said no as he got into my truck, argggg. I hope I never have to hand my keys over again to anyone as I am going to do most of the maintenance myself on the truck. Sorry about your luck, but it seems like if you want the job done right these days you just have to do it yourself.

I am just hoping the parts don't take forever.
Thanks for the good wishes.
Man, talk about crappy luck! Sure hope everything works out for you on their screw-up. I'm like some of the others, I don't know if I could have stayed cool enough not to tear into someone.

man I commend you.. Had that been me,
someone working in that shop would have took an azzwhippin..
In which case you would be in jail...with a screwed up truck. That's thinkin'. Good to hear that you're okay bestatchess. Fortunately your buddy works at the place where your truck is going to be repaired. When its all said and done, it may very well be better then it was in the first place.
