High Pitched Whine- Possible Problem?

This is a link to the thread located in the Performance section. I thought that it should be located here for better responses.

yep I have it and the dealer has looked at it twice and has no idea. I think it is only 4x4's (mine is and has the big tow). The dealer that my truck is at now says a 4x2 that they test drove for the sound does it...
When I pickup my truck tomorrow I will ask to drive the 4x2 and confirm this. If it does then I'll say good fix it on your 4x2 on the lot and let me know when you got it and I'll bring mine back! I'll let everyone know tomorrow. The sound is very high pitched and annoying, esp for a computer tech!

heh flying solo right no so that's not it, yet!

More info: the dealer still has no idea but the service writer did say he heard it also.
We took a 05 XE 4x2 right off the lot and it has the noise also. Is is much more faint than my truck but it is still there, very strange.

Hopefully the noise will get louder so the dealer will be forced into solving this mystery.

Well, I was going to suggest the rear differential. But if a brand new 05 did it, then that can't be where the nosie is coming from.

Flyin2Low, how many miles on your odo?
