it's mostly programming (ie. nfl on sirius, but college games on xm) and price (xm is a little cheaper) that should probably be the deciding factor, or perhaps if you prefer a particular piece of equipment. coverage is basically a wash- sirius supposedly has slightly better satellite coverage, but xm more land-based repeaters in cities.

I have had both this year, and you can check out their web sites and listen. I just put Sirius in my new truck after listening to it on the internet for the last week. I like Sirius alot more! Price difference is $3 a month. Sirius programming and song selection is alot better in my opinion.

XM is not commercial free like they claim!! Sirius is commercial free and has more satellites. XM channels also have volume differences some channels sound real good while others tend to sound tinny. I'm very happy with Sirius and will not go back to XM..

Lizardking - I thought I was just goofy - when I hooked up my Sirius I thought it sounded better and stronger than my xm had. I didn't know if it was due to the equipement - though both had the terk antennae - both are going through the same head unit. Sirius is alot more commercial free - like it alot.

I like it a lot better not to mention no fees for premium channels. I think it sounds 100% better then my old XM setup. I don't have any commercials on the channels I listen too. XM has a bunch of repeaters on the ground while Sirius has more sats in the sky.

I've only been listening to Sirius for about a week and I haven't heard a commercial yet.

The music on XM sucks compared to the music on FM. Can't say anything about Sirius. XM claims 14 Rock stations. They all suck. I still prefer it over regular radio for quality, though there are only 5 or 6 music stations that I like..

How do you like that Ram? The interior is a lot better then the Titan this much I know. I hate the Titan's cheap interior.

- xm does not claim to be commercial free; what they have is that all their *music stations* are commercial free. this is the same as sirius. BOTH xm and sirius have commercials on some of their non-music stations.
- both xm and sirius do have some stations that are going to sound worse than others; this is by design. this is done to save bandwidth on channels that don't really require as much fidelity. i.e. music stations have the most bandwidth, then talk, then traffic and weather.

Sirius has NFL - Yeah!

LizardKing - I'm liking the RAM alot - put about 800 miles on it sine 12/1/04 - everything is great. Like you said interior is nice, no rattles or shakes - rides smoother & quieter - as expected it's not as fast out of the hole - but I didn't buy a truck to street race - highway speed & top end is powerful and it cruises nice on the highway & I think handles better at 65+ mph. Stock radio is a hell of alot better than my Titan's. I got the 6-disc changer in both but the RAMs Infinity system is so much better. I swaped out the head unit in the RAM with the Alpine (XM - Sirius Ready) head unit I had put in the Titan - it's great - I still have all the POLK speakers that I had put in the Titan that I don't think I'm going to need in the Ram. I put all the facotry stuff back in the Titan before the trade. That's what I can tell so far. Time & miles will tell. By the way - are you a Doors fan (lizardking is from a Doors song) ?

Doors fan oh yeah!!! Lizardking is what Jim referred to as himself!

I never heard one commercial on Sirius. Maybe I just get lucky that way. As for sound quality no music station I listen to has that problem but for XM it was in the Rock stations that I noticed the horrible sound quality. I thought the only station they had that sounded good was that hits station but they would play the same 10 songs over and over and over again. Sirius doesn't seem to do that with there hit's station at least not near as bad..
