Unhappy Throttle Problem?

Well, I had to send in my Titan SE back to the dealership for the third time. First time was for a cracked radiator and the second was for the seatbelt recall. This time is kinda weird. I had noticed for the past week that my Titan would seem to be stuck on neutral when accelerating from a stop. The engine would rev up to about 1500 rpm for 1-2 seconds and not go into gear or it would it would not go out of 1st gear (especially turning from a stop) for 1-2 secs. Finally today, it got bizarre. I would have to rev it up to 2500-3000 rpm to get it moving slowly, but once it got up to speed, it ran smoothly. The service engine light came so I dropped it off at the dealership. Hopefully it's a throttle computer problem and not a full blown transmission problem. Any similar experience, anybody? Thanks.

yeah.. that's not good at all. Hopefully it's not transmission problems, most likely it's not. The truck is too new for that to happen. eheh..

While cruising down the hill the in my 95 camry I pushed the gear up from "D" to "N". the camry has some major body roll, And I actually love the body roll, less time putting feet on gas pedal.
Back to my story.. while i had it in "N" I pushed it up to "R" (thinking i was on D, trying to put it on N) going at around 40mph. All of a sudden the engine dies, the steering wheel locks, and the brakes are hard to press on. I hit a curb and the car stops, *I could not believe how STUPID i was, how DUMB I was. There goes my transmission I thought.
I started it up, and drove it home. I still drive it daily but now after first gear, it takes a while to go into 2nd gear. The engine will just revs for 1-2 seconds then the transmission will kick in to 2nd gear.

Well.. that's my experience, i'm sure you'd never do that to your truck!, good luck with the dealer, hopefully it's not the transmission.

Sounds like what mine did when I blew a tranny line and dumped all the fluid. The service tech said the computer will typically disengage the tranny before damage occurs. Maybe your computer is on the fritz...or you have no fluid in there! Keep us posted.

Well I got my Titan back today. Apparently 2 codes came from the engine light: P1769 and P1759 which indicated a transmission fluid leak at the A/T cooler line. On inspection, the clamps holding these lines were not secure and fluid was leaking from there. They replaced the two clamps and replaced 3 (yikes!) quarts of A/T fluid. Retest showed no problems. They claimed no damage to the transmission itself. Now my Titan accelerates like a rocket again. I hope this is the last problem with this truck because I enjoy driving it everyday.

Thanks for the update. Did you notice any fluid on your driveway?

No fluid, thus no clue to what was going on. I think most of it was lost when the truck was in motion and the transmission was in action.

Yep, my lines blew at the same place. Only it was because they left some tooling on from the factory which did not allow the lines to expand when they got hot. If it makes you feel better I have not had any tranny problems since. Enjoy your renewed ride!

Aluminum Engine = FAST HEAT!

Have any of you northern climate guys (n gals) noticed how fast the Titan warms up in cold weather? I damn near get heat by the end of the block. Gotta love how fast aluminum warms up. My Ponticrap Grand Prix with its iron block takes FOREVER to get warm in comparison.
