Question Storage Area Purpose?

Anybody have any ideas on what to store in that little compartment on the underside of the center console box lid? How about on the little hook?

Also, what do you use all of your overhead console bins for?

The pocket is for the travel or pocket tissue packs and the clip is for a pen?

I use that for the checkbook or pens or something.

I was surprised to find out that little thing that folds out in front of the center console storage is a cupholder. It works well for big cups like those Big Gulps from 7-Eleven. That's all it was designed to be. A really really big cupholder.

Previous post says that the clip is for the Valet key. I haven't tried it to see if it fits.

I think the 04 brochure shows a small clamshell cell phone in that little compartment on the underside of the storage lid.

My phone doesn't fit, but I do like the tissue idea.

I wish they would have put some thought in dividing the main storage area of the console. Maybe with some cd dividers, change holder, or something. You can fit a whole laptop in there, however.

You know in the handbook it shows a picture of a tray for the top of the center console hole. Wonder what happened to it?

Valet Key

4. Transponder chip
A key number plate is supplied with your keys.
Record the key number and keep it in a safe place
(such as your wallet), not in the vehicle. If you lose
your keys, see a NISSAN dealer for duplicates by
using the key number. NISSAN does not record
key numbers so it is very important to keep track
of your key number plate.
A key number is only necessary when you have
lost all keys and do not have one to duplicate
from. If you still have a key, your NISSAN dealer
can duplicate it.
NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER
SYSTEM (NVIS) KEYS
You can only drive your vehicle using the master
or valet keys which are registered to the NISSAN
Vehicle Immobilizer System components in your
vehicle. These keys have a transponder chip in
the key head.
The master key can be used for all the locks.
The valet key cannot be used for the console box
lock, the beside storage compartment lock, or the
tailgate lock.
To protect belongings when you leave a key with
someone, give them the valet key only.

Never leave these keys in the vehicle.

The above is from the owner's manual, and since it says not to leave them in the vehicle, I would surmise that the clip is not for the Valet key...since it has a transponder chip in it.

Hmmm, the manual stating "Never leave these keys in the vehicle." would seem to contradict the clip being designed for the valet key. Would this mean that after some ill mannered fella gained entry into my new truck all they would have to do is lift the console lid then start joy riding? I'm thinking the pen/pencil idea is the best so far.

As for the underside holder, that would seem to be a very convienent location for one's cell phone . . . not! I have a hard enough time hearing mine already in loud mode when I have the stereo cranking out tunes. I'm kind of liking the tissue idea, although I currently keep a larger package in one of the overheads.

With regard to the open portion of the center console, I too enjoy the 2 liter sized cup holder. Kind of funny, but I guess like everything else with the Titan the designers were thinking "big"!
