'05 update...5000 miles

Well she officially will roll over 5000 miles today when the wife drives her home and here is the report -

Build Date - 10/13/04
Purchase Date - 11/08/04
Specs - '05 KC SE 2WD w/Pop Bench, Big Tow,Utility Bed and Traction Pkgs.
Total Miles: 5026.1
AVG MPG: 15.842 (70% fwy/30% City)

Fit and finish - Nothing, I repeat nothing has surfaced in this area...truck has not shown one issue, rattle, squeek etc etc at all. Very happy!

Brakes - extremely light intermittent pulse in the fronts...no shaking of the wheel at this point..might be oversensative on this issue due to the early build '04 we had and will continue to monitor...pedal feel is still MUCH better than the '04 was but have had to pump a couple of times coming from a 70+ mph stop to a crawl in Socal traffic....

Radio - Solid as the day we got her. Reception is bounds above the old '04.

Momma's satisfaction scale - a 10! She loves this one even more so that the old '04. The nice added features of the '05 makes her love it more.

Times to dealer - 0! Did the first oil change myself and will continue to do so.

Buyer recommendation =

Pump? Why would you have to pump?

Because much like the '04's...if your moderately braking you will notice the 'mushy' brake pedal feel...One release and re-apply and it firms right back up...

It is MUCH less noticable on the '05 vs the '04...

Not a true 'pump' just a re-application...

I keep telling people that they all don't rattle.
Nice to hear from a satisfied owner.

CT, Glad your 05 is doing well and satisfaction is still at peak scale. I just went over 2.5k on mine and no complaints here either (fingers crossed)

Do not buy an 05, they are made of Cheese!.. That’s right, Cheese! A Wisconsin brand no less. I don’t know how they do it, but they must use a special polymer paint that masks all smell but I assure you it’s no more than a shell similar to M&M’s candy coating.

Other than that I’m sure the 05’s are nice but I’m sticking with my cheese free 02/04!

Man, your really racking up the miles! I bought mine the day after you bought yours and I only have 1600 miles on it! Sounds like we have the same truck though, no issues at all! How do you tell what day your truck was built on? The sticker in my door jam just says 11/04.

Titanoholic...

I had no date on my window sticker or a build sheet in the back of the drivers seat...

Looking around the truck, the latest date on a sticker was on the back of the grille that had 10/13/04 on it. Since that's probably one of the last items to go on the truck during assembly, I went with it.

Was to us...

Our old '04 had 28,484 miles on her when we traded her in...while we took a hit on the value it has so far made it well worth it. Our last early build '04 (12/03 build date) spent 36 days total in the shop. Brakes X5 and Rear Diff replacement took the most time.

As you can obviously see, we rely/depend on having this vehicle available to us and definately drive our cars.

Glad so far so good with the new one Chris. Wish I had the tailgate, I sprinted just in time to stop a 7year old from opining mine. I keep it locked now.

Sounds good so far Chris. Hope you have a nice truck for the next 300k miles

I'm not too sure on my build date but i purchased mine on Feb 04 and was probably built around Jan or Dec but so far i've been to the dealer far too many times for little stuff.

22000 miles so far Feb - 12/15/2004 and its been a killer time being inside it.

BTW, which numbers show the build date on your VIN?

Chris
Phillip...

The build date doesn't show in your VIN....it shows on pieces throughout the truck etc like I typed in the above earlier....

Do you have your window sticker? If so, look bottom center and look for a 6 digit number around there...
