Can't take it anymore about to jump ship!!!!!!

I have owned my Titan since June of 04 and have put 10k on it. It is a fantastic truck. My main problem is that it spends most of it's time at the dealer being repaired. Right now it is in for the 5th time to have the heater/defroster fixed it has not worked properly since I bought the truck. Defrost always blows cold/heat on drivers side comesout lukewarm with very low air flow/ passenger side has great air flow but always blows cold. The A/C works fine. The first 2 times I brought it in they said no problem found. The third time they told me I was using it wrong, the service writer took me for a ride in it, to show me how to work it. Would'nt work for her either. Only then did they admit it had a problem. fourth time in they replaced the control head, went to pick it up (no heat) Now the truck is there for the fifth time with the dash totally apart they are replacing the entire heater box. I have also had a bunch of other problems.

2 window regulators
1 new A/C line
3 brake judder tsb's
2 new front rotors
1 new front differential
seat belt recall
1 new radio (works great)
squeeks and rattles repaired

Once I get it back hopefully with heat and no rattles, I am going to go over my options. I am out of work right now and cannot afford to loose to much by trading it in. I may have to buy a used Ford or Dodge. I don't want to. I like my Titan when the dealer does'nt have it.

Sorry to rant and rave but I can't take much more!

Two words - LEMON LAW

Worst case is that they refund you minus wear and tear.

How many days has it been in the shop versus how many days have you been able to drive it? Lemon Law has coverage for this and Nissan will have to take it back minus your total miles multiplied by per mile charge. The Lemon Law varies per state so you'll have to look it up. Good Luck whatever you decide!!

To me you are overreacting. Most of the vehicles I had in the past had similar number of problems as you listed. None of your problems seem to be hazardous, and many of the troubles seem to be repaired or being repaird. I would get it behind and enjoy the truck. Why bother to switch to another make which is famous for poor build quality?

Yeah why switch to another make....you could always end up with worse problems than what you feel you are having with the Titan. It's a first year model, so it's not going to be perfect. Believe it or not, contrary to what others on this forum may be saying, Nissan is actually making a good effort to resolve all of the problems being experienced. Only problem is that some dealers are making it look like they are not. Attempt to sit down with the service manager or general manager of the dealership you are using. If that doesn't work to your satisfaction, try using a different dealer in your area, attempt to sit down with the service manager (not just a service writer/advisor) and go over the problems. Yeah the lemon law is a possible option, but if has to be in the shop most of the time for the SAME problem (again depends on the state, but most of them require the SAME problem to be the defining measure for invoking the law). Good luck

Do what is best for you. Don't worry about what anyone else might say. Sure, listen to advice. But don't waste your life at the dealer because of poor quality control at the factory. And don't let anyone say "you have to expect that from a 1st model year vehicle". The sticker price was not reduced in price because it was a new model nor did it state for you to expect constant problems (big or small). I am sure the dealer, commercials and corporate literature used words like quality, toughness, dependable, etc...If thats not what your getting, why should you accept less. It's a different story after they have your $$$. I'm pretty sure they still want you to be dependable with your payments. I'm positive they will not accept less.

Almost all of my problems have been small, almost, but it does not mean I enjoy spending most of my summer at the dealer, or using 3 of my personal/sick days from work since Aug at the dealer. I have spent enough time at the stinking dealer to last the life of my next 3 vehicles. And I sure don't like my truck sounding like a bike with cards inbetween the spokes when it decides it's a good day to tick.

That said.....Ford, Dodge and Chevy are not an option for me. I love my Titan, just want it in my driveway. I am not paying big bucks for it to sit at the dealer.

I agree I came over from ford and their service was just horrible..everything in the world is considered normal for them...Nissan service is great I am surprised how great it is, atleast the department i go to...not that there has been anything major with my truck. I dont think its worth it financially to get rid of the Titan that they are repairing for you. Worst case you go through the lemon law or the dsb...either way dont get a ford

My neighbor across the street purchased a 2004 Ford F-150 crew cab and is in the process of having the rear differential replaced. This is on top of the brake work and numerous other problems he has encountered. This type of stuff can happen with any vehicle. I am sad to hear about your awful experience because mine has been just the opposite.

I hope Nissan makes things right for you so you can enjoy your truck the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

Good luck.

Don't get me wrong guys I like my truck I just don't feel I can trust it. Certainly not once the warranty has expired. I would love for them to buy it back and replace it with an 05. I have not even mentioned it to them. I just got back from the dealer they had the whole heater box out and showed me a mechanism that works the blend doors that is in between the heaterbox and the firewall that looks like it was broken upon assembaly at the factory. Hopefully that's the problem. Has anybody out there had their heaterbox removed for any problems? If so does your truck have any dash rattles and does everthing work properly.

Been There - Done That - Here's My New Ride! Was on my 3rd set of front rotors - did 22,000 miles on the Titan - nice truck but I was beginning to wonder what was going to happen when my warranty ran out. I've said it before - there is no perfect vehicle - but you have to be happy with what you own and confident in what your driving. The rebates made my deal work & I got a good number on trade for the titan. Do what you feel will make you the happiest.

Those are alot of annoying problems but it probably wont leave you stranded as the poweretrain seems to be almost perfect the first year.
